So, I got lost in Montreal and ended up seeing Dua Lipa...

Okay, damn...SEONN with the clickbait.

But this time, it's not...here's pictures to prove it.

Was doing some media work earlier this month, and ended up in Montreal. Chicago was great, honestly. Had to pay a visit to Montreal.

But that's not the only person I saw. Honestly, the entire time in Montreal deserves a seperate video.

I also met the YouTuber, "Preach", from the channel Aba & Preach.

Also met up with Marc Brault from the Create Record Release group. He's a fellow iOS Producer, and we hung out at the Van Gogh exhibit. I still remember his joke... "we have two music producers who are going to see an art exhibit about a deaf guy...can't believe the irony"

Here's the video of the meetup

Also hung out at the last Moog Audio store in Canada...finally. I even showed the person at Moog Audio how to make a song in less than 10 minutes, using only an iPad.

Had a few other people I was supposed to meet, which sadly didn't happen. But never say never, Montreal. Had a great time.

  • In addition to that, Gracie Abrams did an amazing show. I even saw Casey from Little Monarch Music who ran the show together with Gracie.

  • Can you visit Montreal without a Passport?

How was the Dua Lipa show? Her Tiny Desktop video show is excellent, IMHO. Great tunes.

  • the iOS stuff is great, but cmon.......honest thoughts on poutine?

    Haa...

Actually tried that...from two places. One was from Julius, an Orange Juice store that sells Poutine.

The other one was from Celine Dion's restaurant.

Gotta give it to Celine Dion's restaurant. That smoked meat was delicious, which is another staple of Montreal.

  • Ha! I saw the subject and immediately knew who the poster was.

  • Great that you got to visit Moog Audio! Love that place to bits; I was sad when the Toronto location closed.

Gonna add Julius to the list for next time we visit — we always go to Schwartz’s for smoked meat but don’t have a poutine joint.

  • I will add that you’re doing great stuff for the iOS community as a whole.
    Very positive.
    It’s good to see.

  • Ah, Montreal, my hometown. So many good things... Left it in my 20s because Toronto had a much healthier live music scene. But it's still nice to go back and visit. I've now lived in Ottawa for many years and good poutine is much easier to get than in T.O. ;)

  • Good on you for experiencing the local smoked meat. Montrealer Eastern European Jewish immigrants introduced the recipe. The top three smoked meat eateries were Schwartz’s, Ben’s & Dunn’s. Only Schwartz’s is still around which is a stones throw from Moog Music on the main (St-Laurent blvd). I would have recommended you try having a bagel from St-Viateur’s or Fairmount’s.

It's funny, because I really likes restaurant and I tried restaurants in many places and I can say without a doubt that Montreal has a lot of incredible good restaurants and we are famous for our poutine.

Probably the same story for Chicago, they have incredible good restaurant but they are famous for hod-dogs!

I'm not saying poutine and hot-dog are not great, but it's not fancy stuff to be famous for. But yeah, it's good!

Moog was one of my favorite store when I was in Montreal.

Hope you like the city Seon.

If you want to try a really good poutine, try La Banquise, probably the most famous poutine restaurant in Canada.

It's expensive, but incredibly good. It's not food, it's art, really.

  • Saw this on my last trip to Montreal.

  • Nice man!!! A musical adventure. lol

  • Sorry, been out of it for a bit. Let’s see…

Yeah, Dua Lipa is excellent. I‘ve learned a lot from her Netflix specials where she and her team broke down “Love Again”, and also from the project file that Apple released on Garageband about a year ago.

Glad to hear, haha. That means my plan is working

But in all seriousness, I’m trying to keep some of my #SEONN threads consistent so it’s easier for people to know who’s posting.

Honestly, the orange juice there is so good. I’d recommend it just for that. The Poutine was just extra.

Thanks man. You, (and Russ, but he’s not on the forum) were the first visits this year. Actually, technically you both were the pioneers of these visits. So, really appreciate spending time with both of you and learning from your experiences.

Damn. I visited Ottawa like two times. If I’d known, I’d have brought Toronto Poutine (lol).
But jokes aside, yeah, Poutine is one of my favorite foods from Canada. I’ve seen different takes on it though…breakfast poutine is a thing. Did you know that? Instead of gravy, it’s eggs cooked over easy. Eggspectation restaurant in Toronto makes that, and it’s pretty great.

Yeah that’s the name. Celine Dion saved Schwartz by buying the restaurant out when they were facing tough times…or so the story goes. Heard about that story from the Moog audio store which ironically is just across the street from Schwartz.

I’ll definitely add that to the list. I plan on returning to Montreal again.

Thanks for the recommendations, @Montreal_Music . I’ll try that as well as the bagel place the next time I’m in town. If we’re ever around at the same time, let me know. Coffee’s on me. Well, actually, my favorite coffee at the moment is “French Vanila with a shot of Espresso”. Only from Tim Hortons. Tried that same combination from McDonalds…not so great, haha.

@MarkR LOL, that’s genius. Vladimir Putin vs Vladimir Poutine.

@magnusovi Yep. Currently on the next one…in Atlanta.

Okay, let’s begin the new thread…now.

Yeah, I’m doing a bit of an experiment on interactive commentary. It’s a bit different from my YouTube videos, but it’s a lot easier to finish. Typing on the forums is a great way to share stories. I’ll be back to making YouTube videos soon though.

EDIT: I should make a website…or at least a place to keep all these content together. In a way, everyone who comments is a part of the story.

  • A video blog would certainly be cool.
That way you can say it all and post the vids cliffhangers and all.

  • Took a bit to get this video out. Been working on other projects since the past year. Anyways, here's the first half...here we go.

So, I spent the past year visiting and working with a lot of musicians and producers. Here's a really memorable one to me - Met up with Marc Brault who uses iOS and Mac OS. We even got to visit the Van Gogh exhibition in Montreal
