Alternative to Audacity (PC) on iOS

Hi there. Beside my iOS musician hobby, I used to edit lectures on a PC with Audacity. Now I'm looking for an iOS app (paid but no subscription) to do the same basic editing like denoise, remove unwanted parts and add compression/normalization. Which app would you recommend ?

  • Twisted Waves, Auditor and Hokusai 3 will do the job. I haven’t got Neon but heard good things about it too.

  • Thanks 🙏🏻
Actually I have Neon but find it way too small for both my eyes and fingers !
Gotta try the two others. Can’t find « Auditor » though, there are many « Audio Editor » on the AppStore.

  • @Etrehumain Search for "living memory software" instead.

  • Hokusai is very good

  • Auditor is is iPad only. If you’re searching for it on the phone you won’t find it @Etrehumain.

To me, Twisted Wave is the most Audacity like. I seldom use it though because it lacks any tempo awareness and ability to trim to bars, beats, and fractions of beats. Other than that it’s great.

  • For the OP purpose I’d go with Hokusai. Once you get used to it you can fly through something like editing lectures. I have it with the Pro Pack IAP’s and it’s pretty good. It has noise reduction in the IAP’s along with a lot of other FX. There are a bunch of videos on YouTube including this one by the famous Doug:

  • Twisted Wave which was mentioned, maybe Neon for an AU, that was mentioned too. Lol, just wasted 30 seconds typing this.

  • Hokusai is the only one I have and it’s great from what little I used it. Haven’t tried Auditor but have heard good things as well. There’s also Soundlab which is marketed as Audacity for iPad. It has a free version, subscription, and paid in full version. Also has good reviews.

AudioMaster, EZCut, Wavebox, Audio Editor Tool, Lexis are all free and may work depending on what you need.

Thanks, I was wondering about Audacity, never tried it but know it’s known for editing. I was thinking of what iOS Daw is the best when it comes to editing and what Daw was similar to Audacity, which is considered a Daw, albeit not a complete and your typical daw. But according to everyone here it seems our simple audio editors like Twisted Wave, Neon, etc are more similar to Audacity than the iOS Daws. I never used but maybe MultiTrack for IPad is the closest alternative Daw to Audacity.
