Is there a tone generating synth where you can choose specific frequencies in hz?
Looking to do a bit of audio alchemy so to speak and I need to generate tones by frequency instead of by musical note, also need to be able to do chords in this way also, so a simple monophonic tone generator will not do. Only thing I can think of is Droneo, but that’s a bit old and I was wondering if there was anything newer and snazzier.

Sure. You know this one, right?

Hey thanks that looks pretty good! Can it play chords though with different user- set frequencies per note in the chord? Couldn’t gather that from the description
@rs2000 you son of a .....haha of course. Suppose I could use multiple instances of Augenx too
Good ol' Oscillator from Kymatica
http://kymatica.com/apps/oscillator
But it's not new as you asked
It's a monophonic oscillator but you can always use multiple instances and send a separate midi-note to each.
You can use Polyphemus AU for that...
Drambo also has tools to generate arbitrary "note" CV that can drive its oscs, so you can implement natural harmonics, or arbitrary frequency multiples.
KQ Dixie can generate up to six arbitrary frequencies, but the precise values are limited by discretization of the frequency scale.
For the record, Kymatica is the “doing business as” name for the esteemed developer of AUM: @j_liljedahl. I collect all his apps just to show support for the DAW this is NOT your Grandads DAW.
It the least number of clicks to a wave file worth sharing.
Fundamental!
+1 for Fundamental
I had a great time playing with Oscillator… like testing to see if I could play all OCS 1 and then shutting it down and dealing in that pitch on OCS 2 and then looking to see. My ear is worse than I expected but at least I know I’m no Jacob Collier that can hear microtonal variation between A=440 and A=432 and even sing the pitch accurately. It’s a good think I’m retired.
iVCS comes with the oscillator section as an AUv3. you can set frequency in Hz with the dials, and can mix the four waveforms. But, you'd need some kind of Mozaic script to try to translate notes into dial positions.
Yeah!
Even the ones he did on comission. Nordbeat was useful even without a Nord keyboard. And I really love Gestrument and Yellofier
I got Gestrument Pro. Now I need to check on Yellofier and Nordbeat just to be sure I have the complete set.
UPDATE: I opened Yellofier… cool kids app to explore. Nordbeat sees AUM as a MIDI device!
Definitely Fundamental2 and / or multiple instances of AUGenX.
Additive synthesis building all harmonic possible waveforms from a sequence of sine waves or excitation of one wave with another, FM synthesis?
More like cymatics and such. Also thanks for all the suggestions folks, looks like I’m well covered for this type of deal, lots to explore!
You could go that for into studying vibration resonance, I believe some research I came across suggested by using harmonic resonance of sound you could actually get more energy out of the system than the input amount, but that I still believe is still quite speculative. As for music production I don’t think anyone has yet produced a method of synthesis based around the method, although someone may know otherwise.
There’s lots of tone generators on the App Store. Not all are synths, even less Au. But if you just need a regular tone generator there are several out there.
The Oscillator is a simple Tone Generator by Kymatica is IAA and Audiobus compatible
