Messy sign-up, says free but you go to use it requires $3.99

I still use this app. You can get real gnarly with it.

Oof they’ve been pretty controversial since coming to the App Store. The reviews are rough.

Looks like a subscription service for plugins. LOL. No thanks.

Yeah the only subscription I have is for Launchpad, which is totally worth it for me, but for a generic workstation type app, no thanks. PSP beats this any day based on everything I’ve heard from it.

Too bad Output doesn’t port Arcade to iOS

I have to say, the feeling of many of these fancy, inspiring subscription sample packs can be replicated by running synth and piano chords through multi effect plugins… filter + chorus + delay + reverb

Exactly. And if Sylo sounds are similar in quality to the graphics in their interfaces, question is if they are worth the $$$

I’ve only very briefly looked into Arcade as I don’t have desktop but I’ve heard lots of good things!

Yeah, I like the idea of using it as an inspirational tool. I personally prefer making my own loops, but I do enjoy access to inspiring sounds. There has been many times I recall starting a song with a sampled loop and ended up building enough parts around it then dropped the sample altogether 😂 I I don’t use my MacBook to justify the subscription right now, but maybe in the future.

  • edited August 2022

The subscription is $4.99 a month. For $10 you can actually have Arcade if you have a desk or laptop.

  • The public beta now up for these who are interested. I’m cutting back on subs so not for me.

    https://store.soundware.io/iosbeta

  • I’ve had a go at the beta and can say it’s quite similar to Arcade. There are tons of sounds.
You can change bmp and key to match your project with a click.
The graphics is pretty neat too.
It needs some improvements but if they are willing to listen to testers, this could replace the dream of Arcade for iOS.

  • The demo for this is usually "type-beat" producers. I've done it before and wasn't super into it but the basic process for these type of romplers is to have a shit ton of sounds to work off of and something to put into a template. Then it's just upload as much as possible and promote to sell beats. Building the working process is fun and making beats is obviously fun. The promotion and uploading is boring and soul sucking though.

Auto-bpm and key synced genre loops are really useful especially when you're making 3 or 4 beats a day. I could see the full subscription being worth it for sure. All you'd need to do is sell one beat every few months to pay for it.

Haha I’ve done the exact same thing! Or it will get mangled to the point it’s unrecognizable 😂

  • Subscriptions are generally an automatic no for me. I can hardly keep up with the presets and samples I already have. For some this might be what they need for a constant flow of sounds. But as a hobbyist who rarely finishes a song, let alone sells it, I doubt I am the target market.

I feel you. Subscription samples are ideal for people who sell beats or make music for tv since both types need constant access to new sounds and can write-off these subscriptions as a business expense. Another aspect is the hobbyist that don’t mind paying $10 a month, like they do for Netflix or Spotify, to have access to a playground of sound!

What would @MobileMusicPro do? I thought of your video on “Mixvibe “ when I saw this. Thoughts?

  • I went down a rabbit hole looking into this and there are a ton of these weird vst companies that all seem related through different youtube producers. I came across a ton of "magic" plugins that are simple multi-fx included in most DAWs and at least 2 plugins that I could swear didn't change the sound.

The "beat" landscape has gotten so weird and scammy lately.

Lots of those on iOS too. It will look like a quality app, then you dig into the reviews and it all goes downhill. Sketchy as hell.

I was shocked when I downloaded Octane for free, but couldn’t do anything without paying $3.99 first. Strange free app smh

The nice thing about Mixvibe is the subscription is completely optional, not sure if it's optional on this new app or if they'll force you into a subscription. @Paa89 says he's tried the beta and it looks pretty good and says it may even replace the dream of having arcade on iOS.
