Recurring Dream

A little backstory to this. The last time I played anything in 3/4 time was at a piano recital when I was about 13. I played Chopin's Minute Waltz and I thought it went off pretty well. I was at least competent with no major mistakes. My piano teacher thought otherwise. If 'Meh' had been a word then. She was brutal and I am forever grateful.

I was trying to think of something different for this one, so I fired up Piano Motifs and selected 3/4. If you try to count it out it will bug you, but it actually works... sort of. Remember that 3 x 4 = 12. I threw in a few bits to muddy the waters. I used Pure Piano, Ravenscroft. iFretless Bass, Viking Synth, and an organ sound from iM1 that sounds like a Hammond with a Leslie speaker. Also used some bits from DrumJam and some vocal samples from Blocs Wave, and a few others. I'm not very good at documenting things.

  • I’ve replayed this one a few times and I still can’t convince my brain it’s in 3/4 time. I do love your choice of sounds. You really have a way of creating a sonic atmosphere for your music to live in.

  • This is more easily counted if you do it in 6, or as you say, in 12.Then it figures. I like the transition.

Thanks Mac. I think @LinearLineman figured it out. Count to six. It's still out there, but it works a little better.

By George... you're right. I think the first transition was OK. The second one was not so good. Quite frankly, I was getting tired of listening to it! The ending could have been better. A bit of a let down, but dinner was calling.

  • Something from progressive rock I hear, which I like, and nice chemistry. 👌production great

  • If I have to count, I’m going to pass…

@Paulieworld says “I’m not very good at documenting things.” You’re better than most but the music is a lot more complicated.
I’m waiting for you to do a 9 minute ambient piece using 1 app. Something like my “Music That Fish Sleep To” which has charted on Aquarium.fish under in the agitated genre. So, I guess I missed the target and should rename “Music the Irritates Even Fish”.

I’ll listen after the extra strength Tylenol kicks in or try to get at my Wife’s Oxy tablets when the nurse stops to check out the squirrels I have called to the window with a full bag of peanuts. It might work. The nurse seems to have her eye on me as a potential pill abductor. I keep trying to get them to increase the amount and variety of her pain meds. They seem to prefer using the IV. But she’s closer to getting out and they are giving her patches as a work around… I’m Googling for ways to get the patch off while she sleeps.

I do hope people realise I’m using dark humour and they shouldn’t contact the hospital and drop a dime on my schemes.
NOTE: I’m still using the UK keyboard I used to figure out how to use the ° character. That’s why I’m trying humour. Need to fix that.

  • OK… nurse dropped the Oxy and they have to dispose and get another pill. Funny but she can’t find the 1st pill. Housekeeping will probably get it (after I suggested it’s under the wardrobe. She has to account for it so I put a vitamin supplement under the wardrobe after getting it wet. Should work or she’s in trouble.

Anyway, I have tried counting 3 times and get lost in the 300’s. So, I hope someone posts the correct answer. BPM is 120…. And length is 3:59 or ~4 x 120 = 480. I’ll take 481 as my guess.

12 beats can easily be grouped into 3/4, 4/4, 6/8 or 12,8. A drum app that provides 12 slot grids would be totally dope. Speaking of dope the nurse is back with a security office to document the lost Oxy. “I need to go to the bathroom”.

SERIOUSLY: The B section needs a push up bra. Flattest B I’ve have heard in sometime.

SERIOUSLY, SERIOUS THO’: You are getting sone really nice production from Piano Motifs. The trick with all generators is recognizing the really good output. Some output is not so good. It takes a good editor to select only the choicest cuts of Piano Motifs.

PS: (Positively Serious) Making music with Ravenscroft and Pure Piano is like working in a studio with a Steinway and a Yamaha… your choice or 2 pianos may vary but it’s just a metaphor for an abundance of riches. So, back off.

This was very soothling… it kicked in perfectly with that dose of Oxy. I know she getting patches… I switched back to humor, fool.

Music for fish. I think I can do something with that. I recall Steve Hillage doing an album called 'Fish Rising'. I was really buzzed at the time.

My ex-wife is 100% Polish and I got quite good at pronouncing names. I don't miss her, but I miss her cooking!

There are a few options but fighting to get out of the hospital is a start. I think she be booted out this week. Funny story: she’s going home in the same condition she arrived with. Still has a colostomy but it’s in the right and not the left and a bit higher which means it will be harder to see because of an obstruction. TMI.

I think she will keep it for a while just to avoid another long visit with multiple rounds in anesthesia. Gettin back from anesthesia is a bitch when they start to bunch up over a couple weeks.

She’s been called a miracle more than once for fighting back from pretty dire conditions. She values life in a way most of us do not because we don’t flirt with hanging around the final exit and take it for granted.

I wager she doesn’t read the forum because it’s just riddled with his music and she gets enough of that around the house.

I think you taught us how to spell Szczyp but not pronounce it. I wonder if Google has a tool to speak out a polish surname.

    I’m guessing “Si-ship” or Sih-zhip.

  • @McD Thanks for the fish music reference. I haven't heard this in decades. I always liked this guy!
