IMPC Pro Akai Element Question…
sorry for such a silly question but I can't seem to discern from any videos I've seen how the akai element hooks up to the ipad, is it just hooking up through the camera connection kit or what? anything special about it. I already have an mpc and i'm just wondering if it's only regular midi then I could just use what I have instead of picking up the element controller.
If any of you have the Element could you tell me if there is anything special about it?

Yeah it uses the camera connection kit. It's just setup so all the buttons on the element match functions I'm the app. Probably the best controller to use with impc pro
I have the Element. It works well and doesn't need to be plugged into a hub to work with the Ipad. There is currently a bug that prevents the velocity sensitive pads from working in iMPC Pro. They do respond correctly in other apps such as Beatmaker 2. Retronyms says they have fixed the problem but we have not had any updates yet.
Damn, I want one of those elements!
I wonder how the element compares to something like the nanopad2?
Could you control iMPC pro with a nanopad2?
@gmslayton If you go to the July 11th blog entry for Retronyms Retroblog it lists the details for midi and has a link to a zip file to layouts for several devices including the Korg Nano Pad 2.
@Paulinko thanks. I've been thinking about picking one up since they are cheap and really portable. I have a nanokontrol 1 and I like it a lot.
I use first iMPC with Quneo too, and can say that the MPC Element pads are the best I have used at today...
I'm looking for an quneo right now, how much better were the element pads than the quneo, I was hoping the quneos pads would be better so I was surprised to hear this.
I had an element for a couple of weeks and returned it because it was just too heavy, it was like carrying 2 extra ipads around. I'm looking forward to trying out the irig pads that just came out, doesn't look that good but it looks quite small and hopefully the pads feel good?
