The Slowest LFO on iOS | haQ attaQ

A viewer have been looking for slow LFOs and so have I. Now I've found an app called mLFO that does slow LFOs like no other iOS app.

  • mLFO is the bees knees, I put that $h!t on everything.

I have no clue as to why I didn't have mlfo when I've collected a lot of other lfo AUv3s, especially since mflo is THE lfo tool I've been looking for (i.e. a super slow LFO to simulate environmental conditions). A multi-hour LFO cycle gets me very excited, lol. (Not that I'd use a multi-hour LFO, or would I? )

So @jakoB_haQ , thank you once again for helping me find a great app!

  • You mean mLFO can track the speed of grass growing?

  • How about no LFO at all? That means the value doesn't change and thus the "LFO"'s period is ∞ 😉 (I know... spoiling the party with my damn science!)

  • Am I right in thinking mLFO currently cannot be used in Cubasis to control a synth... (I really hope I'm wrong)

  • Someone on YouTube did the math and if AUM is set to 20bpm the slowest mlfo settings will make it go for 247 days or something like that. Nuts.

It’s an AU midi fx, I haven’t used cubasis recently but I thought it loaded midi AU’s. Hopefully someone else can confirm.

  • Big fan of slow LFOs here. mLFO is the daddy!

😳 That's not a piece of Ambient. That's an installation! Ooooo! 😈 The wheels in my head are turning now.

That was me. 246.5 days. That’s John Cage ASLSP territory. For those who don’t know:

  • Considering the energy prices these days, most won't have the luxury to keep a synth running a whole year ;)

Maybe worth buying one of the new household waste to USB-C converters?

  • Right on @Philandering_Bastard I couldn’t remember who it was when I posted that. That’s crazy though. Thanks for doing the math.

    @jakoB_haQ

Thanks for this link. Was not aware - slow Lfo’s are where it’s at!

  • Killer glaciated modulation, thanks for the heads up @jakoB_haQ

  • This is fun, thanks for the great video!

But…. has anyone else seen (heard) any issue using mLFO to control the cutoff frequency of Bleass Filter at low frequency (tens of seconds), in AUM?

I hear a very stuttery, choppy sound, when running a pad through it (in my case, I was using a stock Bleass Alpha pad patch).

Other LFOs (e.g. apeSoft midi send) don’t cause this effect in Bleass Filter. And, mLFO doesn’t have this affect on other filters that I’ve tested, e.g. TB DualVCF. Controlling by hand (either on screen or via controller knob) do not do this.

Is anyone else able to reproduce this?

Maybe I should post in the mLFO thread? Or the even older Bleass Filter thread

This stuttering happened to me when using mLFO to control the Dry/Wet slider of Bleass Granulizer. I tried Flux Pro, and same thing. And it doesn't stutter when I move the dry/wet slider by hand. I don't think it's mLFO.

Yeah, my feeling is the Bleass Filter is where the problem is, I’ll send them an email and see what happens. Thanks!

Thanks for the tip - the app is really fun.

It would by nice when there would be a solo-button for each LFO - for the MIDI-Learn-behavior on the receiving components…
