Newly discovered harmonic dog
So I just discovered harmonic dog….does anyone have success n this thing?? I can’t figure out if it will work with audiobus or any other app that will allow me to use my other synths with it….then again I start to think is this very low featured daw good for anything
Comments
It's an excellent DAW for grabbing and arranging recorded audio. Very focused and efficient. Yes, it is AudioBus compatible. It also hosts IAA and AUv3 apps, though I've never found that to be its main forte.
Sometimes "low featured" isn't a bad thing. In the same way a simple notepad app can be more efficient than Microsoft Word for taking quick notes, Multitrack DAW can be good for helping one focus.
But for mainstream uses, and if you want to compare it to something full-featured like Cubasis, then its probably not up your alley.
It was probably the 1st IOS DAW, at least if one considers usability, performance and constant development.
In particular early versions had only essential features that made it almost a virtual multitrack reel-to-reel machine. But (of course) with instant positioning.
It had a very fast workflow for developing multitracked ideas. Record an instrument, add another track, select a section and improvise in a loop on the new track. All takes are preserved (aka comping in new language). Add another track etc...
It couldn‘t do much, but did everything just right. Brilliant software.
(it had a couple of essential fx originally and did IAA fx, too)
But it has grown significantly (imho not always to it‘s advantage).
I would have liked them to keep the simple old thing and offer an extended version for customers who prefer more features.
(I don‘t mind, though... still have the old versions on iPad One and Two)
