Cem Olcay PatternBud AUv3 Midi CC Sequencer - Getting Started
Cem Olcay has released a new Midi CC Sequencer. This is really great as it allows you to define tracks and steps and link each cc message to a parameter exposed by a synth for example inside AUM.
The video covers the following:
- Introduction to the interface
- How to add patterns
- How to change pattern via cc
- How to add steps to tracks
- How to add tracks
- How to change the cc message and midi channel plus name for each track via the settings menu
- How to change the cc value for each step along the type of duration and the amount
- How to add actions to steps
I hope you enjoy the tutorial and find it useful.

Thanks.. digging in..
I’m really struggling here: I have watched every PatternBud video; read tutorials; tried dozens of combinations, but I can’t get PatternBud to change ‘Snapshots’ in StepBud, or ‘Fast Presets’ in Riffer. I have succeeded in getting PatternBud to change some modulation parameters in a couple of synths, so I can get it the app to work.
It seems like most of the videos cover older, slightly less advanced versions of PatternBud, or they cover changing parameters I am able to change, but nothing really addresses my problem of getting PatternBud to change patterns/loops/sequences - whatever the app calls them.
I saw Cem’s short video of using StepBud to change patterns in another instance of StepBud and, yes, I can get that to work, but since I have PatternBud, I don’t want it to kick my butt and keep me from doing what I know, fully, it is meant to do.
Could someone, please, get me out of this endless frustration? I am, typically, using AUM; linking the output of PB to SB; assigning the CC number/channel to ‘Snapshots;’ trying different values; trying actions…I’m just, really, stumped.
What am I missing?
It’s such a simple, elegant, program, which is what makes it so frustrating to not get something so simple, to work.
Thank you.
You know? Isn’t that always the way: I’ve been fighting this for days, now, and I admit defeat to the point that I ask for directions, and five minutes later, I find my way home. Good grief!
Well, maybe that’s all it took. Thanks, folks. Enjoy the community.
Hi
I hope you are ok, do you still need help?
Leo
Glad you figured it out. This is why some of Cem's apps would benefit from proper manuals, or at least more detailed tutorials.
