Aum tempo
So I’m loading a drum loop into AUM. But I need to adjust the temp but when I change the tempo, it does not change the tempo of my drum loop so is there a fix where it will change the tempo of my loop??
Comments
Be aware that the pitch will change, too. If you want time-stretching without pitch change, you will need to load your loop into an AU or app that can do that.
That’s a little over my head what you are explain8ng as I’m still trying to grasp lot of how the iPad works with music on our ipads
Itch will change? How would I load it into an AU??
This isn't iPad specific. It is true with desktop audio and outboard effects gear, too. One way apps change the tempo of a loop is to speed up or slowdown the loop's playback to match the desired duration. When you do that (simply change the speed of playback) the pitch is affected...the same as if you play an LP or tape at the wrong speed.
Some apps and plugins use techniques in order to change time without changing pitch and vice versa.
Turn on Ableton link if the Drum app has it. If not, AUM has exposed it’s tempo (BPM) parameter for MIDI control by apps. Does the drum app also expose it’s BPM parameter. You would find this out by lookin into the MIDI Control menu of AUM.
Check it out and report back… we can probably do this. Ableton Link was made to sync clocks.
I believe OP is trying to load an audio drum loop into AUM's file player.
You are rarely wrong, sir, so I suggest loading it into Neon or Koala since they can time shift without pitch change I believe.
I of course have a much lower batting average for accuracy but sometimes I think out of the box and actually hit the ball.
Other AUv3 that do time-stretching: Loopy Pro, sEGments. There are others, too.
Koala is the easiest app to understand for tempo and pitch stretch. You need the Samurai in app upgrade,
load your loop into it, then load koala into AUM. All things are possible. You might even autoslice the loop across the koala pads so you can make your own version.
