Tune from late last year I made with my iPad and Akai Force

Lots of ID700, Hammerhead, Fractal Bits, Amazing Noises FX...sequenced by Aphelian, Ruismaker Noir and Hammerhead. MIDI processed by midiGATEs and Cality. I tried to make 'electricity sounds'. Deep 808 is from the Force's drum synths.

Those loops were created in apeMatrix and AUM on the iPad and transferred over to the Force and edited, arranged, and mixed. Feedback welcomed. :)

  • Wow man… 1:43 took me to another dimension in a heart beat!

  • I liked the first half atmospheric build up. I'm guessing that the main pad is the iD700. I really need to get back to that synth. I think you definitely got the electricity sounds thing happening. The change up when the kick comes in feels about the right place. Overall the rhythmic feel is really nice and there is a nice feeling of space. I obviously liked the track.

  • We used to have standards where people wouldn’t share music made with cool hardware… strictly to protect the GAS addicts.

May the Force be with you.

Did they get it to import/export to Ableton yet?

  • Awesome stuff man!

Thanks @magnusovi, past 1:43 I tried ducking Hammerhead and Fractal BIts beats with the ID700 'electricity strikes' sounds.

Thanks for listening @Mountain_Hamlet, ID700 is a beast, hard to tame.

@McD Force loads and saves .als files, but the user needs to perform some house-keeping beforehand.

@HotStrange Thank you for listening! 🙂

    I feel 'lucky' owning ID700.

    Thank you @Edward_Alexander

I missed this. Is it okay to post this here? Every sound you hear was made on the iPad, except the deep 808 bass. I guess I could have done it in BM3, but I haven't touched that in a long time.

  • Really nice track!
Like the textures in general, but especially the glitchy drums. I can sense you love Aphex Twin the same way I do. But I might be wrong.
In any case, Keep them coming!

  • Thanks for listening @JanKun. I'm definitely an Aphex Twin fan, and 90s IDM. The first time I heard WIndowlicker it blew me away and I rushed to Tower Records to buy his albums and the other Warp artists. :D

  • Ah, Wrap records ! Huge BoC fan here, but we are legion ! I also love Autechre and Flying Lotus to name a few from their catalog.
Never dared to dive into the rabbit hole of IDM as a musician except a few pale BoC imitations, but maybe for my old days 😀

  • Perfectly fine to post this here. Very creative, too.

Interesting piece, @StudioES - especially the glitchy drums and ‘pig squeals’ ! :) Naive question from a fellow Force owner: what was your workflow/ method to transfer the loops from IPad to the Force?

Yeah, I really like the transition here. The kick we hear is from Hammerhead? Tell me the app, I wil lbuy it.
Did not expect to buy something when my first intention was to listen your creation.

  • @Svetlovska I recorded each track in AUM, and recorded a few passes in apeMatrix. Then I put Force in 'Computer Mode' and used Files App on the iPad to copy the Wavs to a folder on my Force. (I try to stay organized so I have a main 'AUM Recordings' folder on my Force, along with sub-folders that correspond to each AUM session.)

Each instrument gets it's own Audio Track on the Force:
Hammerhead, SKIIID, Fractal Bits, Ruismaker Noir, & ID700 each have 8 audio clips. (40 total audio clips for the percussion).
2x additional ID700 tracks for the ambient pads, each with 1 audio clip. (2 total audio clips for the pads).
Then I just recorded the clip performance to the Force's Arranger, did a little mixing, etc.
If you want the Force .xpj Project file with all the Wavs, let me know, I can upload it to Dropbox.

    Thank you @LinearLineman !

@Montreal_Music Thank you! The main kick is from Ruismaker Noir. Additional kicks from Hammerhead and Fractal Bits, but they have a HPF on them. I'm still learning how to make more impactful drops.

There is a lot of things to learn for that. 1 thing that I learned for that is to reverse the sound of a cymbal shot before the drop.

  • @StudioES : very cool! Yes please, if you feel able to share. I’d find that a fascinating thing to explore on my own Force.

Here's the link to the zip archive. It contains the .xpj project file and the ProjectData folder that contains the Wavs.
Let me know if you have any issues opening the project with the Force, but I don't think there should be any.

Thanks @Montreal_Music I need to try the reversed cymbal transition trick.

  • Hi StudioES,
I enjoyed your creation, and the shift of pace in the middle of the recording is very nice.
    Impressive recording quality.
