Loopy HD in the Aux of Auria via AB - what am I missing?
Hi everyone!
Long time listener, first time caller.
Relevant gear is: iPad Air, Akai EIE, Lightning to USB
Here's what I'm trying to do, and failing:
Auria track inputs are (let's say) JamUp on track 1, mic input on track 2, Sunriser on track 3. All are routed to Auria via AB paths. No issues there.
Loopy HD on Auria's Aux 1. I'm trying to do this by routing Auria's "AUX1" input to Loopy using AB. I have tried different "return" scenarios including trying to bring Loopy back into an Auria track and just trying to bring Loopy back into an AB path (sent to main output).
I want to control the level sent to Loopy from any track using the Aux 1 level in Auria, just like you would with a hardware mixer, and be able to control Loopy's out level with either an Auria track level slider, or by just routing Loopy's output to the mains and using Loopy's native volume control.
How exactly do I make that happen?
I've tried various combinations of which apps I start in which order, which switches I turn on/off in Auria setup (Audiobus mode, Audiobus live monitoring, background app mode, wtf), and routing options in Auria. I never quite get there, and end up with all kinds of wackiness including sometimes no input to Loopy (even with the Aux send level turned up), and other weird results. I've chased my tail with this enough that I'm not sure I will ever find the right combo of switches and routines to make this work.
It seems like this should be a very simple thing to do.
What am I missing? Has anyone here successfully used AB to route Auria's Aux 1 or 2 to Loopy HD and bring Loopy's output back into the mix?
Btw, I'm happy to do this with AB involved, but it seems like if Loopy HD implemented IAA in a way that Auria liked, I could do what I'm describing without AB. I tried some pure IAA scenarios but Loopy HD doesn't seem to know how to sit in the Aux bus of Auria as an IAA app. Am I wrong about that?
Thanks for ANY help from someone who has done this or something similar!!

Do you have an effect in the aux slot? You need to have an effect there, I use the classicverb on 0% mix.
Oh man, thanks SO much mrufino1!! I would have never guessed (or found via search, apparently!) that trick. Seems to work now. I'll do some further experiments and make sure it works, but that got me started. Wish I didn't have to burn memory/CPU on an unneeded reverb, but so it goes.
Thanks again!
That's why I use that effect, it's pretty CPU light. You could use any effect you want in there as long as it has a mix control. You can't bypass the effect or the sound shuts off. I forget why rim said you need an effect in there but you do. If you don't need an aux to vary how much of each track goes to the effect you can use one of the groups as they are all available as outputs as well.
