The Storyteller (LinnStrument, Bome Network, Noire, Omnisphere)
This is a music track that I improvised on a LinnStrument and MIDI keyboard connected to an iPad.
I used Bome Network software to bring the MIDI notes into Bitwig Studio on a desktop PC. There the MIDI was routed to Noire for the piano and Omnisphere for the other instruments.
After bringing the audio recording into Vegas Pro, I applied the Lurssen Mastering Console plug-in to the audio mix.
It's titled The Storyteller.

Once again, a very beautiful story you're telling us. The piano sounds insanely great.
Just a question, are The LinnStrument and iPad good friends in terms of performance? I am not sure to understand your workflow. Are you using the iPad only to route the MIDI from the LinnStrument to your desktop via Bome Network in real time? Sorry, my question might be silly, but I know nothing about Bome network...
Some great video production happening these days, check out @Mountain_Hamlet ’s new post, David. Equally special.
I like the sound of this. How much of this Omnisphere? What's the workflow like in Vegas Pro to get this kind of thing up and running? It looks like it is capable of some interesting effects.
@JanKun A little side note: If you own a Mac, a MIDI connection between iPad and Mac over Bluetooth is solid and low latency.
I've done the same to host larger sample-based instruments on the Mac while composing on the iPad.
@Mountain_Hamlet Last time I've worked with Vegas, it was version 13 on Windows and I was surprised how audio friendly it was: Good internal audio processors plus the option to host VST audio plugins and a nice and straightforward workflow.
@rs2000 That's what I like about DaVinci Resolve as well. It's all laid out in a very easy to understand interface. I believe they bought out Fairlight, or something like that, so you have a multi channel mixer with access to all the installed plugins on the system.
Even with MPE ?
Hi David,
I love the video, very nice.
And the story is very calming. Love the serenity of this tune, my heartbeat is relaxed.
Love this recording.
Rene
Very nice as usual @DavidEnglish
Yes, in this case, it was simply a matter of convenience. I could have just as easily plugged the LinnStrument into my PC (via a USB connection) and bypassed the iPad altogether.
Anything that's not a piano in this one is Omnisphere. I had two instances of it going in BitWig.
All the synths and audio mixing was done in BitWig Studio. I exported the result as a .wav file and brought that into Vegas Pro. There I applied a few audio plug-ins to fine-tune the music to better suit the visuals. And I relied heavily on my video plug-ins within Vegas Pro to manipulate the video.
Vegas Pro 19.0 is strong with both video and audio. Vegas 1.0 grew out of the Sound Forge audio-editing program (way back when both were developed and owned by Sonic Foundry), so it's unusually audio-capable for a video-editing program. I've been using it since it first came out in beta in 1999.
Thanks for your detailed response. It’s greatly appreciated. I use Bitwig and Logic Pro on the laptop. Depends on what direction I want to explore. I’ll have to have a look at Vegas Pro.
I love the understated nature of your posts… excellent music and visuals as usual 👌
This is lovely, thanks for sharing
Thanks, @GeoTony and @belldu. Much appreciated.
