Between you and @GeoTony my head is spinning.
Very beautiful piece, Mike !
@Stochastically you’d better sit down, then. Thx for listening.
@JanKun appreciate rye praise!
I love the ethnic sound, and this recording is very cinematic.
Very high quality of recording, I love this!!!
This is a stunning journey, and glad to be on it.
Rene
The atmosphere in this track is so thick, it made me sweat! Great musical imagery.
This one seems a new approach from you, more minimalistic and atmospheric, with melodic statements subservient to the rhythm and the vibe. I like it very much. Could you say a bit more about your process here?
Thanks @ReneAsologuitar your comments are consistently the best. Thanks for taking the time to express yourself to me and others,
@Wrlds2ndBstGeoshredr, I was hoping you’d listen to this. I actually recorded it 3 years ago before there was IndianDrummer. I added that before I posted. My technique is always the same. I split the keyboard in two and create bass, treble and whole keyboard zones. I assign instruments to the various zones and, as I did here, add a lead line and percussion when necessary. Nothing fancy, in other words.
Also, did you tune your drums that way intentionally? For me tuning all the drums to D might work better for this style. It would tie the drum part in more closely with the rest of the track. The drums seem like they’re trying to establish another key in places. That polytonal effect is interesting in itself though. I am tempted to say another beatnik poem to this one.
@Wrlds2ndBstGeoshredr no, I just messed around with various presets, mostly C and G. If you’d like to add a tuned drum track I’d be curious to hear that compared to mine.
Your drum track is damn good. Do you remember which rhythms you used? Tempo?
Nice use of SwarPlug. Great to see it get an outing.
@Wrlds2ndBstGeoshredr, I think the bpm was 94, but not sure. Used this preset switching from kohl to Tabla F-C and C-G
Thx @Philandering_Bastard. I’d hate to be a noob now. So much to uncover, including SwarPlug.
Is there a version w/o drums on your SoundCloud that I could play with? Did you cut the original against a clock or was it free?
@Wrlds2ndBstGeoshredr, yes. Here’s the link the link to Raga For Lost Fisherman. Two plus years ago. I think you told me at the time it wasn’t a raga! It’s available for download.
Well that sounds pretty assholish of me. I have no idea what I meant by that. Probably some ego BS leaking out.
Lol, no offense was taken! There was some other form you thought it filled the bill. I’ll search for the thread. Meanwhile, another World track coming up. Pls give a listen.
Oh man this is excellent. Great work!
Thanks so much for the praise @HotStrange i’m glad you liked it.
Lovely track, full of subtleties and not afraid to take its time…
Thanks @GeoTony. Yes, it unfolds slowly. Unusual for me.
