I own a 2021 Ipad Pro a ipad Air 3 and just bought a used Ipad 2. Don't laugh. Let me explain
As an OG ios musician, I have been collecting ios music apps for years. As you know many apps are not compatible with newer ipads. I moved on thinking everything newer is better, and in some ways its true, but I missed several older apps(at least ones i could remember) but thought, meh...guess they're just lost forever. In the appstore I kept looking at these older apps I had and wondered if an older ipad like the ipad Air I sold eons ago could salvage some of them. I found an ipad 2 for 45 bucks and I just bought it, thinking oh well, maybe some of my old apps would work. Boy was I surprised. Many apps that are on my ipad pro are still workable on the ipad 2. not semi working, FULLY working( the latest updates work fully without getting an older version) and some apps that I forgot about but were quite awesome and are not workable on newer ipads were compatible with the much older ipad 2. One example, Alchemy. (i went online and downloaded alchemy files for the vst and all can load in the ios version.(its no longer available for sale so I don't feel bad about downloading them) 15 different expansion packs. There are probably more. Anyways, on to the others. Below is a list of every app I installed on the ipad 2 that are the current updated versions of music apps that work flawlessly on the ipad 2.
Camel Audio Alchemy, Waldorf Attack, ielectribe(also the Gorillaz Edition), ScratchDisc, Animoog, Mersenne, syndth, jussi, tines, kronecker, redshrike, heavy brass, poison 202, sunrizer, moon beam, phase 84, chauliodus, harmony voice, Z3TA+( for me this is worth the purchase without Alchemy and its addons) Thor, Galileo, ituttle, ivoxel, AUFX bundle, voxen, impc pro 2(yes..2) impc pro, impc, improvox, molten drum machine, grainproc, soundscaper, launchkey, sidtracker 64, Grain science, shoom, voxsyn, addictive Pro, bassalicious, ns1, phasemaker, sample lab, sensual sax, reslice, troublemaker, grind, roughrider 2, eos2, phosphor 2, quatramod, seaboard 5d, tardigrain, volt, flytape, synthdrum AU, crunk v2, gotoeq, vc-1, chaios 2, replicant 2, bleass delay, (AR cleaner, chorus, delay) oval synth, optigan, jubal flute, gatelab, voxel, shaper 2.
There are more, but these are the ones I own.
Why am I doing this? One, remember, some of these work fine on newer ipad and a lot don't. For those that work, I still deleted them on my newer ipad pro to save space, especially the synths, drum machines, grooveboxes. Also, Alchemy with expansions is VERY VERY nice. remember it can with an awesome 4 track sequencer. Z3ta+(need i say more?) Cubasis 2 still runs well on it as well as the aforementioned impcpro 2 so if i feel dawsome, i can always compose. If you're nostalgic or just want to get your monies worth for all the good ios apps that won't work on your newer device, or just to save space, you may want to drop a few coins for an older ipad model. Audiobus an AUM still run on an old ipad 2 as well, just not the latest updates, but most functionality is still there FYI.
Maybe you can add some more to the list?

Correction. The latest possible 9.3.5 update still requires the date change fix for Z3ta+ This is a non issue for me because my ipad 2 is only used for music. Change the date to pre January 2015 and it works perfectly
Bonus: you get a more vintage sound by setting the date backward too.
Yes this is why I have: M1 Pro, 9.7” Pro, 9,7” iPad, iPad 2
It also beats switching between apps when each one can have it’s own screen.
I can’t get the Alchemy IAPs to download anymore
AFAIR the minimum date on iOS is 2001
No more warm tube sound...
But you'll still get that retro pre-pandemic vibe. Everything since sounds so sterile.
haha. nice one
Yup, I still have my first one, an iPad3. And the now-vintage music apps such as Loop Twister and iVoxel of course all still work.
The rest of my music-making herd:
Air1
2017 Pro
Air3
iPhone SE2
iPhone5
iPod Touch (x2, both running Impaktor and other percussion apps).
So I could have eight devices in my live gigging rig (which usually involves just both Airs and the Pro). But then I'd need a bigger mixer...
