LK, Atom, Helium timeline... move playhead manually?
I have these 3 apps. I'm sending notes from them to switch patterns in Hammerhead (or other things maybe). I'm doing this for song length things with verses and choruses and such...
I haven't found a way to play a sequence (or a clip I should say) from anywhere else but the beginning. I keep on doing the wrong amount of bars for patterns, or changing my mind where I want a fill or something, and I always have to play from the beginning to check, which is getting tiresome.
I tried initially in Atom, then moved to LK, and could find it in neither. I'd use Helium if it was there, but it doesn't seem to be a Thing, in general. Have I missed something? when clips are short it's no big deal, so I wouldn't surprised if it wasn't in Atom as long clips don't seem to be a focus. Maybe LK or Helium though?
thank you...

Helium and (if I recall correctly) LK let you disable host sync so that they play independently of the host. This means you can run them in AUM and they don’t automatically follow the timeline of the host. Atom 2 unfortunately does not let you do this.
Edit: In Helium the default is that the MIDI AU is not host synced so will act independently unless you select the sync option.
Thanks, I'll have to check that out. But I wonder if that also mean I can move the playhead around at will, like in a DAW timeline...
I think most hosts allow you to move the playhead in the timeline, even if the timeline isn't very visible in itself, as in AUM where you can drag the transport time label left/right to move the current playhead position.
Yeah, in Helium you certainly can. As long as Helium is the thing that triggers everything else in your setup then this will work.
You are probably aware of this but as you are using Helium to trigger you will only hear stuff if your playhead starts playing at or before a trigger event. For example, if you have an event that is triggered and lasts 8 bars then you can’t drop the playhead 4 bars in and expect it to pick up at that point in the timeline.
