Loopy Pro and Quantiloop Pro - Anyone using these together? [SOLVED]

Hey, is anyone using these together? Successfully?
I have LP but not QLP. Quantiloop is on sale at the moment and I really like how the pedal buttons seem to function in regard to play/record/undo, etc. In my old ableton looping setup, undo/redo on dedicated tracks was so handy. I know unpeeling is on the roadmap but I feel it probably isn’t gonna happen any time soon.
I use live instruments, software fx, synths/samplers and lumbeats. I think QLP could handle guitar, bass and possibly a mic input with the other stuff going through LP. The IAA of lumbeats might be problematic.
Any opinions from those of you who use or have tried to use them both synced?
TIA

Try as I might, I can't think of any reason to use them together.

  • Yeah, it is a bit redundant but the global undo/redo sort of sucks in LP.
An example of how I use them within ableton loopers are…first, record a chord progression. Then, overdub something to embellish the rhythm eg. Double stops, licks, different inversions, harmonized riffs, etc. I can then use just the undo/redo to bring those in or out over the basic chords depending on the part of the song. Because the undo is on its own track, it’ll always respond to that looping instrument.
It is possible to set something that overdubs like that on LP but it requires extra donuts. It seems like QLP could possibly help with this particular scenario and reduce the number of midi switches needed as well. Plus, the looping buttons in QLP have some options that LP doesn’t.
I’m just not sure if I should pull the trigger on buying it just for that though….

  • I like to hear more about the issues you have with undo-redo in LP; feedback always welcome.

Have you looked into clip peeling yet? It's like undo/redo but for individual clips.

  • I wrote about this before peeling was introduced into loopy....when it was only global undo and redo. The unpeel, peel function has helped solve part of the equation so thats why I wanted to delete the thread. Every new iteration of Loopy tends to alter my setup so it currently differs a lot since late 2022.
