Big Dummy

Dedicated to the memory of my old college buddy, Big Dummy. He loved heavy metal and always had a good joke or something nice to say. He will be missed.

  • The opening of this had me thinking old Black Sabbath but then you turned it all on its ear. Love the production. Once again the vocals add something special to the mix.
Sorry to hear about your college buddy. I’m afraid once we reach a certain age more and more of our music ends up dedicated to past friends and loved ones.

I think he would have liked this. He was a big fan of all metal bands. I remember many nights getting baked in the dorm room listening to 'In Through The Out Door'. BTW - Big Dummy was not meant to be derogatory. We all had similar names for each other. There was also Roach, Dip, and Jizm, to name a few. Interesting stories behind the names!

It was quite a surprise to me. Now I know 2 people who had strokes within the last month, both my age or younger. I would have thought that I would have been the first to go, considering my previous lifestyle. Fortunately, I found someone to help me with that.

I'm glad you liked my tribute. The vocals were just some nonsense that I snagged from Blocks Wave. I'm sure you recognized the Riffler in there. Also used some ZOA with Waldorf Nave, and multiple drum layers from a variety of sources.

Thanks for listening. Have a better day than me. It's raining biblical here!

Lovely tribute to a very good pal, and you are a very kind and thoughtful friend.
I am sure BD is much loved by many, and surely missed.
I am actually enjoying this creation.
    Well done.

Thank you Rene! He was really into metal bands and I think he would have enjoyed this sort of tribute. As I mentioned above, those were just nicknames among young friends. There was no mean intent. His name came from the old 'Sanford and Son' TV show. Yes, he was loved and respected by everyone that knew him... and he was certainly no dummy! Thank you!
