RIP Absynth
“Native Instruments has made the decision to not include Absynth in Komplete 14, and to additionally stop selling it as an individual product,” NI explained. “We know that this will be disappointing news for many of you who have been long-time users of the software synthesizer during its 22 years on the market.”
The statement continues by saying: “We always aspire to provide the best user experience with each product that we offer in our catalogue. Unfortunately, we must acknowledge that this is sometimes not possible due to constantly evolving user needs and technological standards.
“Discontinuing Absynth was not an easy decision to make, but the resource required to keep the product in line with modern standards has become too much of a challenge. Absynth has also long been in need of updates and improvements, and we are unfortunately not able to provide the synth with the attention it needs.
Bummer.

FM8 hasn't been updated in just as long, Surprised it survives.
Scarbee Funk Guitarist has also be ejected from Komplete (although it will still be available direct from Scarbee).
Native Internments InKomplete 14.
I remember when Absynth was released, it was very cool sounding and unique - I loved the evolving textures.
NI did mention that perhaps someone else will decide to pickup Absynth where it left off, let’s hope 🙏
This fucking sucks! Absynth was one of my go-to synths during my FL Studio days. In fact, my synth 101 professor taught us the basics of synthesis using Absynth! I used to use it in a lot of my mid-2000s Trance productions as well as for class assignments. It has a unique, distinctive sonic thumbprint. In fact...
...the lead pad that comes in at 1m25s playing notes in mainly B Mixolydian is most likely Absynth (given Sascha and company used Kontakt in many early 2000s productions so most likely owned Komplete)! I've tried to recreate this pad on many synths, and yet Absynth gave me a perfect match.
If there were only a way Absynth could be ported to iOS 🙏🏻
I'd be willing to shell out $150 for it too. 🙏 It'd be worth every last dollar.
There's talk that Rhizomatic (the original developer of Absynth) will bring out a 'replacement' - not sure how accurate that might be. They also do Plasmonic which is a very cool synth.

I always loved the routing possibilities of it, and it definitely had no equivalent at one time. Guess I can find other software to do what it does, but it won’t have the elegant flow of Absynth.
+1 for Plasmonic - probably my favourite synth ever, with beautiful mpe implementation. Also - unlike some synths - the presets are incredibly inspiring. Unfortunately I ended up using it very rarely as I just don't like working on desktop. I really feel for the dev - he doesn't have much marketing nous but he's clearly brilliant and deserving of recognition and success.
Plugin Boutique had Absynth and FM8 each for < 20 bucks recently, iirc.
FM8 is still there for 12 €, but I can only find preset packs if I search for Absynth.
Absynth was the very first virtual synth I actually paid for. Loved the Giger inspired design of the early versions.
I remember a sound designer who called himself biomechanics…
fwiw:
Saw this a few days ago. The sadness in his voice and demeanour really breaks my heart. Amazing dev.
To new beginnings!
Cool sounds near the end, reminds me of the old show, Dark Shadows
I’m very sad that Absynth is gone it was my very first synthesiser software and I loved it
I wish I could find something that sounds similar on the iPad
Would there maybe be away how to get just the sound presets as files I could import for instance into a sample player on iOS
