I think tagging michael when a spam thread pops up is the way to go. Or using the flag link.

I know he’s a very busy person and I wish there was a way we could mask/disappear any thread on our own in our browser without having to bother him, like the inverse of tapping on the “star” to favorite a thread.

Perhaps ignoring the profile of the poster might remove the thread from your view:
    1. Click profile
    2. Click edit
    3. Select Ignore

My concern was that this forum doesn’t get infiltrated by scammers and sales people. Me blocking an advert from my view doesn’t solve the problem. I’ve seen good forums die under the weight of unrestricted spam. I’d hate that to happen here. In positive news it seems the offending thread has in fact been removed.

Thank you for being vigilant, I’m glad it got removed! This forum is such a great resource, we collectively need to pay attention and “say something if we see something” to protect it.

  • It is good to stay on top of spam. Botnets are funny things. Spam can beget spam.

No, that doesn’t work. Unfortunately, if a spammer were to start a thread, their thread would still be visible until their account is removed.
