Drum practice pad for use with Impaktor
I'm thinking of getting a Remo tunable practice pad. Anyone use one of those with Impaktor?
Comments
Nah but I use an Evans RealFeel pad, works great (just have to adjust the sensitivity in Impaktor. It's hard to get really accurate rolls though (nature of the beast, I suspect)
I want to see if I can get a full trash set together for Voxkit! (so far my experiments have proven unsuccessful, Voxkit! doesn't quite register the different tones enough)
Any epad will do. Rolls with fingers work out better than average drum module haven't tried with sticks though.
Thinking more of a drum practice pad rather than a full-on epad because I just want to play Impaktor parts with sticks and don't want to damage my desk.
RealFeel is a practice pad. Practice pads will work. I'd second @supadom's recommendation that using hands will probably give better reactions than sticks (esp. for rolls)
Thanks guys. I'll probably go for a RealFeel pad. I was initially intrigued by the Remo having a drum head, but reviewers are saying it's too loud.
One thing about using a practice pad for Impaktor: From my experience, the only real bonus to using a practice pad over any other flat surface is the tactile response (like a drumhead). The sensitivity settings in Impaktor are great for making the app work on any normal flat surface, and as @supadom said, Impaktor tends to work better with hands than sticks.
With all that said, there's basically nothing negative to say about getting a practice pad. They're great things. (Craigslist is a good place to look for practice pads, can find them real cheap and you don't lose anything getting a used practice pad as compared to a new one)
