  • Damn Rene!! Banger!!!

  • Hi Rene, it would so cool if you could speak the introduction you write here before singing. . Think about it.
You're getting closer to actual Beatle’s hits. Keep on keepin’ on!

    Hi Mike,
I did the verbal intro, before doing the singing or guitar fingerstyle recording, when I first started.
I actually did not dig that progression very well.
Maybe because I was a poor speaker, hahahahaha.
More Beatles on the way, for sure.
    Thanks Mike.

  • Guitar finger style?

  • Another song I somehow managed to miss out on. I suppose since I was only 3 years old in 1970 I’m allowed to miss a few.
Really enjoyed this performance and I have to thank you once again for introducing me to another great tune.

  • I prefer this version to the original, awesome performance 👍

    In my YouTube Channel,
    https://www.youtube.com/c/rannildo
I started out as a finger style guitarist, as I was trying to get better at playing this style music.
And I was introducing the songs at the beginning of my recordings.
    Thanks, Mike!

  • This was a beautiful cover. This song has a lot of personal meaning to me and listening to this brought up a lot of nostalgia and maybe a couple tears, thank you for sharing :)

  • So much better than the original. Your vocals are sublime as is your guitar playing. Yes you made me cry once again with your beautiful performance. 🥲 I'm catching up now on your YT channel.

  • Lovely stuff. A very personal comment on the interpretation: I think this song would be much more affecting sung from a downbeat interpretation. Like someone who's not feeling love in their life would sing it. From what I know of you, you have a loving wife and partner. I would like to hear a version of this where you're an unloved guy who's pining for love but doesn't think he'll ever get it. That would have much more resonance. Maybe it's just me! I don't like happy songs 😂

Mark Kozelek is a brilliant songwriter and guitarist. He just doesn't know when he should keep his inner thoughts to himself. Maybe that's the weakness of musical geniuses.

I don't know. He's a tortured human being like most artists, Jim Morisson would probably have been cancelled after their first album release if they were a new band today. And yes, despite what has been said in this forum, cancelling is a real thing, and is very different from 'criticism'. That said... Mark isn't looking like a very nice guy by today's standards. It doesn't make me like his music any less. If people commit crimes let them go to prison. But, for me at least, the art and the person can be separate. Let he who is without sin throw the first stone, etc

Separate the art from the artist. Huge controversial topic. One of my favourite french Novel "Voyage Au Bout De La Nuit" is brilliant but his author was a notorious antisemitic. There is French singer, Bertrand Cantat who wrote some of the most beautiful French songs, but killed his partner. Pablo Picasso was a monster (I don't really like his art so that's good with me). So many exemples.

  • Indeed there are many. It seems to come with the territory.

  • Hi JanKun,
    Hi Gavinski,
    Very interesting and horrible stuff.
Geniuses are such eccentric folks and yes, it comes with the territory.

    Hi @Gavinski ,
Happy songs are so hard to sell, and I agree 100% with you, the blues is the way to go, and I also love the downbeat interpretation. The blues is really a state of mind, and one has to keep focused on the song interpretation to create the vibe and the feel.
You are so appreciated, and so knowledgeable on musical interpretation and execution.
    Are you music producer?
    Just asking, you never know.
    Thank you!
