Speaking of Model D presets... there are 3 new official banks I think?
Alongside @childofthecorndog's amazing presets It looks like there are 3 new banks available:
Velluto Giallo:
30 presets inspired by film noir, 70's horror and japanese ghost stories. From spectral whistles to ominous bass tones - all bathed in shadows.
Sound Workshop:
30 presets inspired by the sound workshops 1970s Italy. From sci-fi soundtracks through the soft pastoral leads of library music - la citta e il suono.
Sea Moss:
30 presets inspired by sea, wetlands, and old nature documentaries. Sounds from polyphonic 'organ' patches to muddy bass tones.
It's been an expensive morning... The problem is the store is not really responding very well and I can't get at them.
Comments
Thanks @sevenape. I must have missed these but not anymore.
No worries, I missed them too! Got them installed and having a play... Very nice!
Didn’t notice these either, thanks! Any standouts? ( not that interested in SFX/ random noises) thanks
The Sea Moss one is the most straightforward I guess, with Lots of organ sounds, I really like the horror one for noisy spooky sounds and the Sound workshop goes a little bit more towards the Test equipment side of things, but still very playable.
Honestly the CotCD are the best )
🙏🏻
Damn, I hadn't noticed this either. Sound Workshop feels like it might be sucking money out of iTunes account already and I've not even checked it out yet
Presumably Doug from Sound Test Room will be covering these patches at some point.
That would be good! I am tempted but for 6.99$ I would like to here a demo.
This is weird, I didn’t see it either.
I always found it odd that they don’t even provide a link to hear the sounds on their site. I think they’d get a whole lot more patch sales if they did.
Encountered the same. Updated the app and new IAP appeared.
I took Velluto Giallo (4,99€)
Fantastico
Didn’t see any videos on it (not even from Doug!) so was wondering how useful is it…is it an essential IAP or would one of the others be better?
I have the Velluto Giallo pack (30 presets), it's ok, not my favorite but that's a matter of taste. It leans toward b-movie horror sounds, no surprise.
My favorite preset banks are the Mercurial Strategies 2 (99 presets), and Hyperdimension Pads (35 presets). Also the Minimoog Classics bank is fun (50 presets). Cabinet of Curiousities gets the vote for the best preset names.
I suppose it's worth mentioning (again) there's a great collection of AB Forum member patches for Model D here: https://forum.audiob.us/discussion/25341/audiobus-forums-moog-model-d-sound-pack-100-weird-and-wonderful-ab-forum-sounds/p1
Oh yeah I know lol I have that already just looking to expand my palate 😎
I can’t seem to get that pack to work on my new iPad with the latest version of Model D. I’m sure the file is fine as I’m the one that put the pack together on here. I’ve tried the usual: reloading app etc, but it does what it used to do, but no pack is there at the end. Damn shame as I liked some of the sounds we did for that pack, although I enjoyed our Zeeon pack more
Try this:
For me I shared the file with model d open already. That seemed to work.
Thanks didn't work though
Thanks that worked! Odd that!
what does one do with model d presets?
if that kind of synth is to complicated too program for you, your maybe better with a preset player?
It can be fun and inspiring. I love programming synths or building patches in MiRack but still sometimes I’m too tired and like to browse presets for ideas.
The modulation section isn’t really legible (to my eyes) so doesn’t make me inclined to work out what’s going on there, so a few presets can be a good starting point.
Could be any number of reasons people use presets…
I normally do my own presets ; anybody who’s listened to the music I do knows I design patches on a wide variety of synths (although I prefer FM to subtractive). For me, the reason I would be interested in IAP for the Moogs is the simple fact that this is based on classic hardware. The fact I’m currently working on a song with a bass line done with a patch based on “Roller Skating Child” from the Beach Boys’ Love You is quite frankly badass to me.
This isn’t my favorite synth to design patches on (the Iceworks synths are ), but that’s ok… I got other stuff for that.
I doubt the Model D is too complicated for anyone to program, I don't know of an easier synth to tweak. The presets are for fun, sometimes they're inspiring.
Makes me wonder what synth folks would enjoy assembling a new forum pack for. Tera Pro perhaps? ButterSynth would be good but some folks seem to have stability concerns.
If one is done for Tera Pro, count me in! Same with the Iceworks stuff 😎
Would love to contribute a few to a Tera Pro collection. Just make sure you have all of the in-app purchases!
I have to admit having got the Tera Pro iaps a couple of weeks back, they are really great. Tera Pro is a wonderful app.
