PD Space Guitar Synthesizer by Paul Driessen - Released

https://apps.apple.com/app/id1545446186

Description:

PD Space Guitar Synthesizer pimps up your guitartone with polyphonic saw and square-like waves, pitchshifting, modulation, filtering and more
it brings fluid realtime crazyness to your guitar: unlike distortions and overdrive, these effects work polyphonically.
Allthough this app is made for electric guitar, users have allready succesfulle (mis)used it for several other instruments.
All you need is an ios device and an audiointerface for your instrument.

PD Space Guitar Synthesizer runs as standalone and can be remotely controlled via midi.
It can also be loaded as an AUv3 plugin inside other apps.

Please note the following:

  • you need an audiointerface to get your instrument connected to the app.
  • the use of a bigger screen is recommended: an ipad is more comfortable to work with than with an iphone.
  • old ipads/iphone might overload with some effects, especially when used as a plugin. When this happens, please first disable the reverb and cabinet inside the PD Space guitar patch.

Normal Effects are also on board:

  • a simple amp that sounds good for the enriched guitarsound with eq, limiting and overdrive.
  • a stereo modulator that gives nice wobbles and athmosphere.
  • a delay with feedback tone control.
  • delay and modulator can be switched in order.
  • a cabinet IR loader for speaker simulation
  • a reverb IR loader for reverb

  • Cool, been waiting for this one.

  • This sounds very similar to Yonac’s Roxsyn.

I’m referring to the way it appears to treat input sound. Roxsyn isn’t really a synthesizer either, it’s mostly a signal processor.

  • How did I miss this thread. I did a search before I posted mine and didn’t see any new threads. I also thought, huh, @White must have missed this one, lol. But here it is. Apologies for the duplicate thread. Thanks @White

  • I get very different results from this app than from Roxsyn.

    Please go on.

  • There are some videos that Paul has made, sounds different from RoxSyn even if the technology has some similarities.

Space guitar is more usable and musical than Roxsyn. I got some ok sounds out of Roxsyn but they never fit right in a mix or a composition. The tones are murky and dark and flat. SG is the opposite. The tones are sharp and immediate and cut through a mix effectively. And the latency and the expressiveness make the playing experience feel very natural for my playing style.YMMV
