How can Audiobus be so broken on me phone?

Granted I’m using the oldest device capable of running it. I upgraded from a iPhone 6 to an 8 specifically for the iOS 13 upgrade that would allow me to run the program.

I’ve had it for about a year now and I’ve only succeeded in opening three apps (figure, fugue, soundprism) in it despite having attempted to load all several dozen of the apps I have no problem loading into AUM. I’ve tried all sorts of loading apps first into AB, opening them first, swiping them closed, flipping them upside down, going back in time and opening them before purchasing Audibus, sending AB back to before the apps were made and scripting them exclusively to work with it… nothin.

  • I’m guessing you don’t want to update any further?

Audiobus works just fine for me on iPhone 7. Maybe if you list a few apps that you've tried and what exactly happens people can do some tests. I don't have iOS 13 though ... or maybe I do on an old device.

What's stopping you from updating to the latest iOS?

Oh ... and I assume we're talking about Audiobus 3, not Audiobus 2, right?

Are the apps you are trying to load Audiobus compatible?

    Not all modern apps are.

Click the "Compatible Apps" link at the top of this page to see if they are.

@fornax55 I guess that you're having trouble with IAA apps (Apps menu, not Audio Units). Could you try an Audio Unit to see if it works better?

You may be short on processor memory for the apps you're trying to load. Try restarting the phone (power off, not just sleep) before opening Audiobus3.

Edit: Audiobus3 is still working fine on my iPad Air (1), locked to iOS 12. Tried it with 2 IAA apps, no problems.

  • Thanks for the tips, IIRC I was using audiobus compatible apps when I first started my foray into AB but was so underwhelmed with any of them working that I gave up. It’s been so long since I gave it another round that I forgot there was a list of compatibles. I’ll get back to this thread once I’ve mucked about some more.

If you provide specifics it would help. I find Audiobus 3 to be quite reliable. Without details, it is hard to know if these are Audiobus issues or glitches with the particula apps.

  • @fornax55 would be interested to hear what you discover. I have somehow managed to break Audiobus but am the only person afaik to have managed this. Let us know your findings. Thanks

Can you share details so that we might help figure out what is going on?

  • I’ll have to dig out the thread. Had details/videos etc. and the general consensus was, yes, you’ve broken it 😄

I think you’re actually on this thread with all the other usual technical heavy hitters (Michael included). I don’t think I even got round to mentioning all the odd trouble it has with saving as well…
Sorry, not meaning to hijack thread, OP just caught my interest and wondered if any similarities.

In that other thread, the issue you illustrated seemed focused on changing plugin order. If you have ongoing other problems, illustrating them and describing how to reproduce them makes it possible to track them down. You might want to at Michael in that original thread. It probably inadvertently dropped off his radar
