Usb Midi Joystick Controller
I thought A x-mas present like this might sound good...but not too many offers out here...and this one is $300

I know some of the Akai mini keyboard have a joystick...but not sure about mapping different cc's on them so I would rather fancy something like the one above.
Is anyone using something like this?

One of these and a Arduino and you could probably make you own.
Interesting! Thanks!
At one point I was searching for a XY joystick option, I’m hoping Intech adds one to their modular MIDI ecosystem:
I was chatting with these guys from their first product launch and they have plans to create a lot more modules!
I have not tried this, but it looks as if TouchOSC has gamepad support (I can see the settings in my iOS version of Touchosc). You could use this to create MIDI or OSC messages from the USB gamepad controller: https://hexler.net/touchosc/manual/connections-gamepad
Does it have to be a joystick or would an XY pad do as well?
Korg has a few low cost options but I remember one little MIDI keyboard with a joystick too.
An XY pad usually also sends a message when touched, a joystick doesn't.
Quite a difference for punch-in effects I think.
I prefer a joystick, if possible
one option is via Control Voltage, using a device that can handle CV and MIDI.
The Doepfer Drehbank (64 knob MIDI controller from the 90’s) has two CV inputs with 5V power supply. Which means, you only need a potentiometer where you solder a cable and connect the TRS plug to the Drehbank. Very easy to do. I used a simple cheap joystick and the two inputs of the Drehbank to control the quad panner in Cubase, to pan any track in my quadrophonic studio setup.
The Drehbank is no more produced and hard to come by, but there are modern MIDI controllers with CV as well. The KMI QuNexus for example has two CV inputs, although the mini-TRRS plug is quite a challenge to solder. The CMI XKey 37 has a portamamento pedal input, which is identical to a CV input. However, unlike the Drehbank, both keyboards’ CV inputs need a 5V power source for potentiometers like joysticks.
Just as an idea. Of course it only makes sense if one already owns such a converter device.

Are those guys still active ? I don’t see any purchase link?!> @AlmostAnonymous said:
@Sergiu Yep, they are still active...just ordered a bunch of boards a couple months ago w/ some breakouts from tindie. A lot was out of stock. Looks like they only have the 4.1's currently. (you need to click on each board on the left to see inventory/add to cart)
