  • I just purchased Vintage Rack, and I will tell you my thoughts when I have a substantial playthrough with it. :) The "reverse delay" is especially intriguing to me since "Other Desert Cities" is iPad-only, and I sometimes like to dabble on my iPhone.

Keep it on topic people, or start a new thread. I won’t warn you again. Don’t make me go all mean mod on you

I know we can create a de-esser using side chain, (if indeed that’s available here ) but still I was hoping for a store bought one here so as not to have to roll my own. Looks a lot easier to use than Mixbox.

    There's no de-esser

It’s NEVER an expensive week on iOS, lol

You’re on fire! And I really appreciate the Radiohead you’re putting through the paces there!

But I must say these effects are not particularly distinguished. Sorry to be a downer.

    Thanks for noticing RH-ism :)
Although it's not groundbreaking and you're sure to find better effects as standalones to replace the ones on VR, but it's nice to have just one app that does it all in one go. I think the best use of it is try out all the presets, create some of your own and categorize them by style. Personally, I'd use the empty banks as E - Lo-Fi sounds, F - for guitars, G - for electronic and H - experimental/others.
Another cool use is for "live dj-ing", I know it's not something discussed here or on the app's description, but around this mark I found that's it's nice to make a track/sequence run and turn some effects on/off whilst the sequence is playing.

  • I will have a video up on this within an hour or so that should hopefully help people make up their mind. As well as giving a general walk through it demos every effect module (all 16) alone so you can hear exactly the quality of each. I also mention a few areas where I think it could be improved.

  • Bought it last night, but didn’t have much time to play with it. Will get back to it tonight.

  • I feel sad to be excluded because of the os version
I feel happy because the temptation will simmer now

Sorry about that man and thanks!

Just purchased it as well, so I can’t wait to test it tonight!

This is why I usually steer clear of multi-fx units or apps, unfortunately. I know there is bound to be an exception out there, but this doesn’t seem to be it. Trading off the clutter of individual dedicated effects for an all-in-one solution that sacrifices quality is not for me.

I find the "all-in-one solution that sacrifices quality" a bit harsh and I don't think it's true. I have not tested it long but it goes real well with my electric guitar and you who like to skip amp sims might wanna give that a go as it even has a noise gate(+compressor+eq). The timing of his release is a bit unfortunate with all the hype around the GSI(?). I like his abstract apps (BeatCutter, SpaceFields and the older ones too) and had hoped for something on board that did that but, no :)

  • How is the control factor. From the videos I speed watched it seemed the parameters are somewhat limited. Anyone have an opinion on that?

They are a bit limited yes. Take the delay as an example which has no sync setting but do have a button for 5 different bit depths, a bit(haha) strange priority. I guess he will change things with feedback from users.

@Pxlhg That's the impression I got. Seems cool on the surface but not really traditional from the tweaker perspective. Yes I'm an addict, but it's GAS not crack.

  • SunVox dev seems to like it too :sunglasses:

  • I’m astounded at the lack of revolutionary (aka game changing) apps lately.

Is see a lot or repackaging, which is cool but there hasn’t been much in that pot since Drambo and Loopy.

    Just saying.

  • Progressions is the last release I can recall that genuinely did something pretty revolutionary. That, I am almost certain, was mostly down to David Colette's unique vision, and the paper he wrote to accompany the app is a must-read. Nambu was pretty rad too.

Yeah totally agree. Would love to see something a bit different tbh

  • Honestly, I'm quite happy with the respite. I've amassed so many apps that I need to investigate further that being able to satisfying my desire for new stuff without having to learn much about it is pretty great in terms of productivity.

The GSI delays are a great example. Leveled up my arsenal without altering my workflow, allowing me to go back to exploring FRMS, Branches and loads of others

  • Update just landed with some very exciting new modules.

Maybe a note for those who were not so intrigued by this on launch, while this app is on the simpler side for Igor, it does not lack in quality at all. While I’m a compete Igor fanboy and adore the likes of BeatCutter and SpaceFields, I’m sooo happy he decided to get out of his ‘comfort zone’ and make something a bit more “standardised”. I use VR in almost every session. It’s super quick to get what you want from it, it’s sounds great (definitely has some character, especially when you set lower bit depths), it’s fairly easy on CPU for a multi-fx and (possibly most importantly for me) it is easy to dial in a sound very quickly but also keep things subtle. I feel like VR fills the roll I wanted Mixbox to, if I have a sound I like but it needs a bit more character rather than changing the sound entirely, it’s the first thing I reach for. The limited controls are actually a blessing and a great conscious design choice, it enables you to work quickly without labouring over a million settings to get the sound you want, with one exception… the delay not having sync. Personally I don’t mind that too much, but I’m used to analog delays and actually prefer a slightly imperfect delay time so I completely understand that might a general inconvenience for some.

If you’re into the sound of 90s rack units I can whole heartedly recommend this. Igor for president 🫡

  • This is another gift that keeps on giving, really liking the exciter in the latest update!
...had I not already won this from @Gavinski and one of his amazing streams I would have bought it today :sunglasses:

  • Very interesting. Hope he’s doing a Black Friday sale B)

  • Yep, great app and I love how Igor always puts out some genuinely exciting updates after release. A lot added here!

And glad the giveaway found a welcoming home Samu!

Am I blind or can anybody confirm that there is no BPM sync for Delay in VintageRack, please?
