Jens Guell Making Moves - 20 Open Public Betas & Counting

I recently downloaded one of Jens apps that went free, WU ParametricEQ, and if you open in standalone and hit the info button In the bottom right corner, there is a list of all the upcoming apps. There are 20 open betas! Well 15 at the time of writing this 5 betas are still pending approval. All kinds of FX apps, A grand piano, audio apps, a slew of betas to test out. Go check it out if you have a Jens Guell app open in standalone and hit the little info icon. Here are some pics…

List of betas

Notice Apps that say Soon.

Hit Info Button Then hit Public Betas Link shown here on the left hand side menu

  • There are also some betas for Mac OS on another page.

  • Actually 16 open and ready 4 pending approval. Those are direct links to a beta invite inside the info in standalone of Jens Guell apps.

  • Popps, you’re a delight. Thanks mate!

  • Thank you, nice find !
I tried to install them maybe one year ago. They were listed on the website but I didn’t find the public link at that time. So I guess it is working now ?
Also good to know : if I remember well the Piano is an hybrid model, using somewhere between samples and physical modeling.

    Thanks @gothamoddisee and you’re welcome.

Yea, so far so good @Paulo164 I just stumbled across it when I downloaded WU Parametric EQ. I’ve tested about 7 and out of those all worked except for one, Jax Module Player, which I think is like a multichannel midi player, that crashed. But I wasn’t 100% sure how to use it so maybe user error. The the others worked. Most have a manual instide though… There’s a grand piano that sounds really nice. It’s pretty cool they are all public but at the same time a little overwhelming trying to test 16 new apps at once. I accepted the invitation to all of them but only downloaded like 7 to try. Will try another set at some point. Plus it looks like there’s another 4 pending approval, so lots of betas. iOS and Mac.

  • I just opened up one of the beta apps in standalone, selected info, the selected open public betas, and saw this. Looks like all 20 are up and running.

  • Not sure why people get excited by this.

Remind me again...how much do you get paid to do the beta testing for these developers?

There are reasons to do things other than just to get paid. Problem solving in this way can be a good intellectual exercise. Nobody’s forcing anyone to take part.

  • It’s an unusual discovery, I need no more joy!

And on the right conditions, the tester even shapes the future for that app (asking features for example)

What you get paid is the software is cheap and hopefully has been put through its paces. And it gives you a chance to see if the software is worthwhile.

  • Especially on iOS, I think open beta testing is a very smart and generous move by the dev. Nothing to criticise about it. And in an open beta, I would imagine very few users even give feedback. I'd like to see every iOS app have an open beta, but I also understand that some devs find it a headache.

if the intention is that noble than fine. But pure appoholism without contribution can also be a factor ;)

As I said, an intellectual exercise. I don’t think nobility has anything to do with it. I’ll try out an open beta and if it doesn’t click with me, I’ll get out of it because it’s not worth the time and effort otherwise.

Definitely, a free chance to not only provide feedback that could be implemented, but the chance to test an app before you buy it. Or decide it is not for you.

Yea I was quite surprised when I stumbled upon it. Some developers do open betas, some are closed and exclusive, but I’ve never seen 20 open betas from one developer at one time. Jens must be coding his butt off, lol.

I just downloaded WU AUBandPassFilter which is currently free usually $3.99, hit the info button In standalone and noticed a few things. 1. There’s a little description by some of the apps to help explain what they might do, and 2. there’s 8 more apps that will be available for public beta but are pending approval. For those counting that will be 28 betas. Uhh… Wow. Also there are links for Mac betas too if anyone wants to test them that way. Here’s the pics of what’s available, and what will be soon… Look at some of those app descriptions, I’m getting even more excited with some of those descriptions. Besides some of the fx that we can basically presume most functionality Several of the new ones sound interesting, quite unique, and different. Infinite random looper, audio coding app, multichannel drums, a midi generator, midi recorder, midi player, an auto sampler, time stretch sampler, I mean holy $#;% this is remarkable on many levels.

Those who actively test, correspond, and help will be interested in that final paragraph. Enjoy.
