Goodhertz CanOpener iOS alternative

It's strange that an app like this isn't available for ios yet, or am I wrong? I think many use headphones to create on ipad or iphone and such an app would be very relevant 🤔

  • Personally, I’m not a big fan of headphone correction software but a lot of people seem to rate TB Morphit https://apps.apple.com/de/app/tb-morphit/id1487595036?l=en

  • I’m not aware of a cross-bleed plug-in for iOS I don’t think Morphit does this.

  • I used to use Morphit until I got some flat response cans. With regular headphones it's definitely better than not using it.

Goodhertz should bring their apps to iOS!

  • They’ve already said they will never do it, I’ve talked to them about porting canopener a few times.

I'm a morphit user, it's definitely helped me with cross platform mixing, I've got some dt770 for the iPad and some dt990 for my desktop, running morphit on both systems has meant less corrective work when I move my stems into Ableton from the iPad..

Morphit does crossfeed, Really? Instabuy if it is! Personally I’m not interested in headphone neutralise features of Morphit.

I don’t think Morphit does crossfeed, at least not to my knowledge.

  • Since corrective EQ is the most relevant part of fixing the headphones' response, I'd recommend Neutron Music Player.
It's one of the few that has multiple fully parametric EQ bands and supports both playback of local files and streaming web radio, both with live EQ corrections. I've got the EQ settings for my DT770 from a Github page with loads of measurements from most knows headphones, and it made quite a difference.

For making music and mixing my own stuff, I'm using this:
    https://patchstorage.com/beyerdynamic-dt770-80-ohms-correction/
If you wanted to go wild, you could add Thafknar with a crossfeed IR.

Ohh.. Impulse response can be used for crossfeed, cool. ta++ Let’s go wild God bless GitHub and Drambo.

  • It’s the crossfeed bit that really makes the difference to the experience. I use DearVR Monitor for that and there’s no going back.

EQ correction for types of headphones is a completely separate thing and has a debatable value. I mean it has value to get a flat response, sure, but there’s also value in letting different pairs of headphones reveal different things about your mix.

Funny enough, I remember Can Opener being on iOS and one of the earliest apps I bought. It was one of the first things that got me interested in actually learning about sound and the technology/science behind it.

No dice in my purchase history, but promise I’m not making it up.

  • Yeah I used it for years with my iPhone until they stopped supporting it.
