Synchronizing Xequence and AUM timelines
I was playing with the idea of using Xequence as a sequencer and Loopy Pro in AUM as audio tracks player. I arranged audio files in Loopy Pro in it's sequencer.
Everything was fine when I started from the beginning, but if I wanted to hear (or loop) only e.g. the chorus I couldn't synchronize the timelines as AUM would always start from bar 1.
I tried turning on Send Sync in Xequence, setting AUM to receive MMC, with and without Ableton Link, but I couldn't make it work.
Can this be done, am I missing something?
BTW I made the track using LK as an AUv3 inside AUM. Since LK is loop based it's doesn't have a timeline, so I thought of trying to migrate the track to Xequence hoping it's timeline would be in sync with AUM.
I was amazed how easy it was to export clips from LK and import them in Xequence. I literally finished everything in 15 min. Awesome!

Hey,
there's recently been a few threads about this -- a good starting point is probably this one:
https://forum.audiob.us/discussion/51449/example-x2-aum-audiobus-setup/p1
In short, you have to make sure that the MIDI sync from Xequence ("Send Sync") can get through to Loopy Pro, and that Loopy Pro is set to receive MIDI sync (clock). The thread(s) above explain how!
Oh, and if you're into loop-based workflows: Note that Xequence also has a neat "Loop" option that can be applied to individual ciips (arranger bottom toolbar: OPTIONS -> Loop), in case you've overlooked this.
Thanks!
I managed to make it work with Loopy Pro as standalone. In my project I was hosting Loopy Pro as AUv3 inside AUM and that doesn't seem to be working, AUM is not following Xequence![:( :(](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/frowning.png)
Sorry, indeed it seems like Audiobus is required for this to work. Please see the thread above! (the problem is that AUM cannot receive MIDI sync, and Loopy Pro cannot receive MIDI sync while hosted in AUM. However, Audiobus can receive MIDI sync, so hosting Loopy Pro in Audiobus will let you sync it to Xequence perfectly.)
Not sure why one would host Loopy Pro in Audiobus rather than just run Loopy Pro as standalone.
The OP is trying to host Loopy Pro in AUM. Audiobus might be a workable substitute.
I like mixing in AUM because of the flexible routing among other things. One possible workaround is to trigger audio files from Loopy Pro via MIDI instead of arranging them in Loopy’s timeline.
You can get all of it working the way you've outlined by using AUM + Audiobus, see the thread above (it's not trivial but it works!
)
I took a glance at the thread. It seemed like a complicated setup, but I’ll take a closer look, thanks
Well, it turns out it wasn’t that complicated after all, and it works
Thanks again!
Good to know! Happy composing (and syncing!)
