Blue Mangoo Transient Shaper is a high-quality transient designer effect. The key feature is the simplicity of the controls. The
plugin's adaptive filters respond automatically to a wide range of inputs, giving vou an extreme level of control over the intensity of
transient sounds without the need to adjust complicated settings. The unique filters in the attack envelope allow the attack intensity
to be reduced much farther than other transient plugins, to the point of totallv silencing the note attack, if desired.
EXPLANATION FOR READERS WHO HAVEN'T USED A TRANSIENT SHAPER BEFORE
A transient shaper allows you to adjust the speed or intensity of note attacks, making them crispier and snappier, or softening them
and reducing harsh click sounds. This is useful if you want to make a snare drum cut through the mix (increase attack) or to soften
pick noise on a guitar (reduce attack). Additionally, it allows you to adjust the volume of the sustain (or release) part of a note,
leaving the attack part mostly untouched. This is useful if you want to reduce room reverberation sound on drums, making them
sound tighter. Usually what we call the "sustain" control actually adjusts the volume of all parts of the sound except for the attack,
so in many cases it functions more like a release control than a sustain control, if we compare it to the controls with those names in
an ADSR (Attack, Delay, Sustain, Release) envelope control on a synthesizer.
WHAT UNIQUE THINGS DOES IT DO?
- Adaptive filters handle wide variety of signals automatically without user input
- Adaptive filters allow the attack adjustment to respond faster, allowing you to silence even the extreme earliest part of the note
Note: except for the unusual ability to totally silence the attack, this plugin does basically the same thing that other transient
plugins do. If you already have a transient shaper and you are happy with the way it sounds, this one will sound similar.
So the only reasons to buy this are:
- You don't have a transient shaper yet
- You don't have the Blue Mango attack softener plugin yet
- You do have a transient shaper but you would like one with simpler controls
- You love collecting plugins

My current go-to is Beef since I can no longer re-store Beat Former on my new iPad as it's 'gone' from the AppStore...

Beat Former cannot even be downloaded from purchased history? That's very bad news... It is so great on drums...
Nope it's gone from the purchase history too after Facebook/Meta bought Accusonus and when they did that the app was completely removed from the AppStore.
On the other hand when I initially got Beat Former it was 100% free...
Yeah it was a free app, but really could bring life even to the most boring beat. Still working on my iPad though, still on iOS 15. Did iOS 16 break it for you?
Nope, when I got a new iPad (11" M1 iPad Pro) I just wanted to install BeatFormer and it's no longer available in my purchased items list. I still have it installed on my iPad Air 2...
(Some other apps have vanished as well so it's not the only one that is no longer available for re-install).
That's a pity. The good side is that you got yourself a great new device ! I remember when I upgraded from my iPad air 2 to a pro10.5 I felt almost limitless. Can't imagine the performance jump from air2 to M1.

i have no transient sharper at all, but I like how fac medusa and WOOTT shaping drums…. will transient sharper brings something different to sound than mentioned two plugins?
So how does this differ from the attack softener if at all?
Attack Softener is an effect that fades the beginning of
each note you play to remove the attack transient. This
allows you to make synth-like sounds with almost any
instrument (guitar, bass, piano, etc.)
It functions similarly to a transient shaper. Unlike a
transient shaper though, it can bring the volume of
attack sounds down to near zero quickly enough to
silence the pick sound of an electric guitar in very fast
music.

Love their attack softener app. I have the FAC app for transient shaping but I might give this a go too. Anyone tried it?
