Overdrive Synth / Rompler Released: Vintage Synths Played Through Guitar Pedals (YT vid Walkthrough)
This is a simple but beautiful rompler by MobyPixel that is free to download with a $4.99 IAP to unlock more presets. If you can’t find it on the AppStore yet, it means it hasn’t rolled out in your area yet but will be available asap! It sounds AMAZING, as it has been created with vintage synths played through various guitar pedals. My YouTube video has a full half hour walkthrough with a demo of ALL the presets. This sounds pretty good. Has anyone tried the full sounds unlock?
The demo I did has all the presets from the full unlock. The free version only has - offhand - maybe 10 or 15 presets.
Romplers are a good cheap and easy way to get the sound you need now without a lot of modification, but they’re usually pretty hefty on storage space requirements with all of the samples.
How much space does the fully expanded app take up?
Pretty nice really. Nothing mind blowing and pretty subtle overdrive to my ears but I find apps like this and VHS Synth etc pretty useful when I didn’t realise that I needed a Rhodes or whatever instead of my usual synth only rule.
Would buy it but does anyone know if the full 100 presets will increase its 258mb footprint? I’m hoping the full 100 are already included in the download and just locked until purchase… very little space left. What was I thinking buying 64gb iPad lol

Best advice I got on devices is to always get as much RAM and storage as you can afford because you’ll always fill them up no matter what you’re doing.

Moving the filter quickly makes an rough sound. As it thr midi values went directly to the filter cutoff without any smoothing.
The delay is juicy. I wish i would have an envelope/lfoto assign to it

They probably do - it's a bit rough and ready in some aspects as I mentioned in the vid - like no delay level setting for example. As I also mentioned, he's open to suggestions, like my suggestion that there REALLY needs to be 2 filter sliders, 1 for frequency and 1 for res, I mean come on! Lol. Nevertheless, great sounds right out of the box and I didn't notice problems moving the filter slowly.

@purpan2 : yup, I sprung for the full unlock. Impressed with the presets right out of the gate, just used thre instances of it in (and no o there synth apps) in a piece (see Creations). Inspiring (to me at least!) in the same way that the not dissimilar LoFi Tape and VHS synths are - bringing something more to the game than the same old same old.

But now i want a legato mode
As I mentioned in another thread, using the updated app as an AU in GarageBand macOS causes the project to lose audio. Not sure why this happens but I've tested it a number of times and it leads to quitting and restarting GB to get the audio to work again.
