  • Great playing Rene!!!
The vocals are so pretty and clear too!!

  • Really nice version of a classic “sad” song.

I and many others really love the sad songs because they are anthems to our internal dialogue and show us “we are not alone”.
Most of the happy music is just not helpful if your going through things and can’t agree that “Everything is beautiful”.

Learning a little Zen Buddhism can be useful to understand the power of the mind to learn gratitude and acceptance of the true nature of the world as a spectrum of possibilities.

Lovely and unique vibrato, Clarissa. You can’t teach someone to use the voice that way. It makes you standout from the crowd of singers for that very reason. Scarcity can create value.

    Hi McD,
I am so thankful for you and your insights.
"Gratitude and acceptance" with humility and understanding can bridge a lot of gaps we currently have in our world!!!
We are definitely not alone, and all it takes is a simple reach, maybe a smile, and there are plenty of hearts that care.
One problem we have today, is we do not reach out, and maybe we have lost the craft of communication and the power of "together".
    You are so appreciated, Dave!!!
Love your beautiful words, and very deep exhortation.
    Thanks for sharing.
    Respectfully,
    Rene

  • Yeah, this was fantastic. Agreed with @McD points. I was feeling a bit down by the weather, and this weirdly cheered me up, despite the fact that it's supposed to be a sad song.

Maybe it's the upbeat guitar from @ReneAsologuitar , and the calm emotional voice from Clarissa...still not sure, but it was what I needed to hear today.

And great job sneaking in that harmony...ended up putting a smile on my face.

  • The dichotomy of emotion brought forth by the pristine clear like vocals against the background of the guitar and lyrics was disconcerting in a very enjoyable way!!

  • I’m still working my way through the creations that got posted while I was down with Covid but I had to listen to this. This is one of my favorite songs. I’ve heard many covers and most don’t work for me. This does. Exceptional performance from both of you.

    Lovely words, magnusovi!!!
When we checked this song out for the Radiohead request, I was a bit caught off guard by the lyrics. And me, myself, was also being drifted into some fantasy space by Clarissa emotional interpretation of the song.
Thanks for all the great feedback.

Glad to hear you are coming back ok from Covid!
Love your ear of approval for this song rendition.
This beautiful song is quite new to my ears, and it is growing on me, like a wildfire.
And I have to say, I like Clarissa's cover and interpretation of this song.

Great interpretation of a classic song. And somehow you managed to convey the dynamics of the original using only voice and an acoustic guitar - no mean feat! My only nit is that you should have kept the profanity (it's not very special 😜), because it's part of the spirit of the song.

Love Rene singing the high harmony in the background, that was a great touch!

  • This is my favourite so far of all the covers you've posted. I wish I had even a hundredth of the talent of either you.

  • Another beauty, Rene. May I suggest when you respond to comments you post @LinearLineman for example rather than a name. This way the folks you’re responding to get notified and read your lovely remarks.

That Clarissa is a treasure. You’re a fortunate father…. and husband.

  • Really great cover of one of my favourite songs! I love the vibrato in Clarissa's voice, your choice of chords and the little touches of harmony towards the end. Enjoyed that!

    Great feedback, Richard!!!
I agree with the profanity, in keeping with the spirit of the song!
And love especially the high harmony compliment!!!
    Thank you so much!!!

Thanks for the response tip. I did not know this.
I am truly blessed, and I am taking full advantage of the time Clarissa has with us, for more duo song recording.
    Family is #1, of fortunate!!!
    Thank you LinearLineman!!!

    Love your wonderful comments.
All the little details you mentioned, are so appreciated.
I also love Clarissa's natural vibrato, simply special!!!
    Thank you so much!!!

  • Clarissa is really amazing, she has her very own way of singing and I think you understanding her range pretty well so you chose a good transposition for the song.
Nice to hear your backing vocals. I definitely want to hear a duo with complete harmonization, hope you will find a song that you both like to do that.
I would agree with Richard, this song is about teenage frustration and anger so the profanity is quite important. But you gave us another interpretation of the song, which is what makes a great cover.

  • Hi JanKun,
Your response is important in selling the profanity point.
I hope we can find a song that we can sing together, with harmony.
Finding the correct vocal range of a singer is critical, is both execution and maximum efficacy of the singer.
    Love this feedback post!!!
    Thank you so much!!!

This started playing straight after yellow. I think my listening might be complete for the day. This is a great rendition of this song, you kept it family friendly and I think it had more impact than the original in that way. Great delivery. I just saw @richardyot 's comment further up the chain and I understand and agree with that point too, but I didn't miss them in this instance and I did on the original Radiohead radio friendly censored version so you both found something here.

  • A beautiful song, sung and played beautifully, thanks to both of you. <3
