auv3 for routing audio in limited DAWs / creating virtual mixing busses?
Hello!
I am working in zenbeats trying to do something very simple- record the audio output (including fx) from track A to track B
unfortunately zenbeats has very limited routing options and does not have a robust setup for AUX tracks/ routing/ multiple busses etc
is anyone aware of any auv3s that will allow me to create virtual mixing busses / route audio to a virtual input (zenbeats does not support IAA) ? I am imagining something like ape send/receive but it would somehow allow me to trick zenbeats into thinking the audio I am sending is coming into my system on a hardware input so that I can record the audio signal directly to a track in the timeline
any tips or thoughts would be infinitely appreciated

What about Visual Mixer?

Do the apeSoft tools not let you do this between tracks in ZB?
I did some testing with https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/visualswift/id1556649526 and various DAWs, one of which was Zenbeats:

I don’t know if this still works the same as that was a while ago. I would need to give it another try to see if it matches your requirement. You want to record the live output of an AUv3 instrument plugin with all of the FX applied?

Yes exactly! thank you for sending wireless audio… this might work if it can imitate a hardware input for zenbeats…. how are you imagining VisualSwift would function in this instance? can VisualSwift be loaded as an auv3 or is it only a host?
VisualSwift is a host but comes with a set of useful separate transmit/receive plugins that let you send audio or MIDI between them. You can use these to route audio/MIDI within the same host, or between hosts, e.g. AUM to Zenbeats.
WOH amazing… so how would routing the audio into zenbeats work? does the audio input show up as an audio bus? or is is more like ape send/receive where you insert a plugin and it outputs the transmitted audio? The problem with the plugin style relay is that zenbeats does not allow you to record auv3 audio output, you can only record the raw audio input from a hardware device or audio bus…. so I’m wondering if visualswift somehow allows me to bypass the hardware input and route the output from AUM directly into the input of zenbeats
I just tested again and you are correct, Zenbeats does not give the option to record the ‘wet’ output of an audio track. I can pipe the audio from AUM to ZB but I cannot see a way to have ZB record what comes after the audio interface. I wondered if the sidechaining might help with this but could not see an option to use the sidechained audio in this way.
You can use the ‘send’ VisualSwift plugin to send output of an AUv3 instrument out of Zenbeats in real time so that it could be recorded elsewhere but I suspect this is not what you were looking at for the workflow you had in mind.
Another option would be to have Loopy Pro or similar after the AUv3 instrument and export the audio back into ZB when you have what you want.
@annahahn
Secret base design auv3 wireless app
tried it in zenbeats, mute the track you send,
and on the target track on playback turn off
greetings
Just keep in mind there will be a bit of latency with AUv3 wireless even within the same host. Also, while @ccs2 has checked Zenbeats for compatibility, some other hosts such as Cubasis won't work.
Yeah, it's always the latency, (MIDI connections a little less so) ...
In the case of Nanostudio2, f.e. sending an extra stereo track apart from the main mix over to Aum is still possible with the Transmitter unit
It's not perfect however, because the signal arriving in the Receive unit comes with a (barely) audible (although even kind of pleasant sounding) analog-cable-like hissing noise, nevertheless eq-able (:
