Notion 3.0 released - read warning before updating
WARNING! Back up your old Notion data before updating as there is a possibility that you will lose your iCloud data.

The UI overhaul is the biggest change that I could see. Not sure about the situation with having bought IAPs in the past. I seem to be able to use my Pencil for note entry (despite the unlock symbol still being there in the pencil entry setting) and also appear to have access to all the instruments I purchased in the previous release, but the ‘new’ IAP still shows as available and Restore Purchases does not clear it. I think there may be an extra couple of features added as IAPs (extra export formats), so perhaps this is why.
Anyone else see the same?

That sounds like a nasty bug. You should report it to them if you haven’t already.
Strange, I see the Notion folder on the iPad that I have not updated Notion on yet, but not the one where it has been updated. I wonder if the app somehow changes the view of the cloud drive depending on where it is installed, or whether my old iPad is just seeing a cached version of the files.
Do you see the files if you log into iCloud via icloud.com ? I see them there, even on the ‘updated’ iPad.
Welcome pack just requires you to register an account with presonsus. You used to have to provide an email address and then enter a special code, IIRC.
I had the same problem as you @JMmusic. Browsing iCloud in Notion I couldn't see the Notion folder. But, it was still there when using my computer (dragged it to the desktop and pasted it back again, restarted phone, and it now works - panic over!).
The Presonus Sphere subscription is optional. There seems to be a bug on the Restore Purchases/IAP screen - I downloaded all instruments.
Really sorry to hear that, I hoped it would still be there for you.
Manual has now been updated (edit):
https://notionmobilemanual.presonus.com/en/
Presonus have created a new (empty atm) forum for the new version:
https://forums.presonus.com/viewforum.php?f=416
I’ve added a warning to the thread title and to the original post.
The folder might be backed up on your PC - this happens automatically on Mac, although it's hidden away somewhere.
Welp, I was very excited when I saw the update yesterday so updated right away and couldn’t see my old files in notion so already had an inkling they’d be ‘gone’ :’) But I could find some thanks to the tip here of icloud.com (will double check on my macbook later) and I should have them backed up somewhere as well but would have to dig a bit.
I’d only purchased the Ukulele instrument before and it seems to work, not sure if it’s now included by default or if the iap transfer worked since the ‘restore purchases’ doesn’t show much atm xD
Btw the subscription is for Presonus Sphere so that includes Studio One and a bunch of other stuff, not sure if anyone might be confused about that so figured I’d mention it![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
I’m excited to dig in! From the release notes it looks like they fixed a whooooole lot of annoyances.
My experience with the "disappeared folder" phenomenon is that they seemed to be gone from the Files app. But then I ran Notion, pressed the file folder there and everything appeared like normal. And then they showed up in Files as well. This was for "On my iPad" files. Not sure about iCloud
Seriously appreciate the heads up folks. I currently have 465 scores in iCloud. Losing them would be 😥
Spent some time on Notion 3 today and, despite the folder problem, the update is very, very good - Presonus have listened. With a little practice, the handwriting IAP works well on my iPhone. The notation/tablature updates are great and Notion remains the best app for scoring guitar (just my opinion
).
Kool! 😺 I really want to learn/get back into Notion, it looks & sounds gr8! 🎹🎧🎸
After updating Notion on one of my other devices, I finally lost my iCloud folder like some of the others here. New version 3.0.1 contains a fix for an iCloud issue, but did not seem to make a difference to things.
I realised that Notion Mobile is available on the Mac App Store (not sure if this is M1/M2 only). After installing it on my Mac I can see the Notion folder in the iCloud on my Mac again. My iPad (with fixed Notion 3.0.1) still did not have the folder so I thought to reboot the iPad. When it came back up then the folder was there!
It might be the case then that you need to update to 3.0.1 and then do a reboot for the iCloud fix to take effect.
Having Notion Mobile available on the Mac could be pretty useful. None of the IAPs from Notion 2.0 restore correctly in the desktop version. Whether this is a bug or not, I do not know.
It's a separate version for the Mac. Only iOS apps that run on a Mac require Mx, from what I understand.

That would make sense - separate app = separate IAP. Not a bad deal though, especially given that the base app still looks like it is a free download.
And from what I've seen still has a well-rounded set of features for being free. I've fiddled around with MuseScore for notation on my Mac but just a bit of poking around in Notion shows how much more polished it feels, and seems to have what I'm looking for.
