Last Headphone Jacked iPads?
When did the mini/pro/air each stop getting a headphone jack?
Looks like v9 base if the last of the base models but I am curious about the other lines as I am thinking of picking one up.
Comments
@AudioGus these are the latest models with a headphone jack:
Edit: added the base model you already mentioned for completeness if anyone comes looking for this info
Fantastic, thank you!!![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
Geekbench single core score...
Pro: [2nd gen] - 1118
Mini: [5th gen] - 1112
Air: [3rd gen] - 1111
Base: [9th gen] - 1325
So looks like Base 9 is the winner. Nice to see it is over 50% faster than my previous olde 10.5 pro which would be quite nice.
Depending on what you want to do with an iPad, the informational value of a geekbench is not necessarily sufficient. The size of the installed RAM plays a not insignificant role especially when using many and/or resource hungry plugins or large projects in e.g. AUM, Cubasis etc…The number of CPU cores and how/if they are explicitly addressed by apps also have an influence on the UX.
I’m iPad Pro 10.5 user. I like the fact that iPad 9th generation has an earphone jack. If I were to purchase the latter, my only concern is the former has 4GB of RAM but the latter has 3GB. (Some people may be concerned about the number of speakers and Lightning port.)
I'm running a 2018 standard and only ever run memory issues when using fabfilter effects
I have a9th generation iPad too and I had a iPad Pro from 2017 before and it really is faster and I enjoy that also the fact that it has a headphone jack
I had a choice if I get this one now or save up for an iPad Pro that is newer than the one I had but as I found out that the new ones don’t have headphone jacks that was a dealbreaker for me
By the way, this is where you look for refurbished iPad Pro models from Apple: https://www.apple.com/shop/refurbished/ipad
I have the iPad Pro 12.9 2nd gen with headphone jack. It’s awesome. Best iPad I’ve ever owned.
Yah for me I will just be using BM3 sample mashing and never did get even close to using half of my 10.5 pro ram. Cpu though would cap eventually so for my use case all is likely swell in base land.
I don't recommend the 2017 Pro - performance is pure trash compared to the 2018 model when it comes to large AUM sessions.
