It is not incorrect to refer to machine learning as AI. Machine learning is a subset of AI. Some call it an application of AI.

There is also AI that is not machine learning.

actually exact opposite :-) Machine Learning is tool for developing AI.. essentiallzy machine learning is process of configuring neural network, searching proper "numbers" for each node ("neuron") - result is etwork capable of process data as highly efficitent optimalisation process..

Machine learning systems exist today. Artificial intelligence describes the general field of study. As I've said repeatedly, it does not yet exist in a practical sense.
