JWM - Silver Moon (Coming 28th October 2022!)

Here's the trailer for the upcoming Halloween song release. This is literally the weirdest song I've ever written, lol.

Edit: It's available!!! $1/track (although the "Mysterious Girl" trailer is free to download), or $3.50 for the entire single.

Happy Halloween!!!

Comments

  • I just finished a House remix with a Dubstep section in the middle. However, the whole remix is a low-key vibe harkening back to the days of mid-2000s Dubstep before the likes of Datsik, Excision, and Skrillex ruined changed it.

  • I am enjoying this weirdness!
    Actually, very enjoyable sound!

Thank you so much mate. :) I'm so happy you left a comment. ❤️ I was half expecting comments to pour in once released tomorrow via Bandcamp, so this made my morning complete.

I guess nobody else besides my bud Rene cares then. 🤷 Well happy Halloween tomorrow?

EDIT: Any interaction would bring me a little joy, but yeah. Forget it. Done with trying with this song, even though I worked hard on it, and paid one of my friends to voice act on the "album version".

  • I'm digging the "club mix" and the old school dubstep bit! It is my understanding the smoking bans in UK clubs is what killed dubstep. Had to get the drop in so the peeps could go outside and smoke.

Ah, finally, a comment! Yay! 😅

Anyways, I'm so glad you dig the old school dubstep bit mate. That makes me so ecstatic! I mean, okay, being in the US, Skrill was my intro to Dubstep in a way, and I thought he invented it. Then when I discovered old-school dubstep, how chill and low key it was, I was floored.

And not to derail my own thread, but smoking bans are a bunch of bull, lol. As a nicotine user, it'd be nice to smoke/vape indoors, let alone the fact it'd be nice not to have family harass me to quit. Smoking and vaping are unhealthy, but it evens out the nerves. Plus I've factored it into my monthly budget already.

I've tried quitting a fair few times, and whenever I went without, I'd become so hyper. Maybe that's why Dubstep became so hyper in the 2010s, lol. Dubstep quit smoking. 😆

I really like the intro in the extended mix. Don’t be discouraged by the lack of responses. I know you worked hard. It’s evident. My output is nonexistent anymore, so my opinion may not carry weight, but I know how hard it is when there is an attachment to something you’ve made.
As much time as I spend on here, I still don’t have time to listen to everyone’s creations. There has even been times that I don’t post a comment to something I really like cause I can’t think of anything to say other than that i I really like it, cause I think as creatives, there is an expectation to hear why we like or don’t like something, so I don’t feel like explaining, thus don’t post.

    Happy Halloween!

Thank you mate. I'm just glad you liked what you heard. :)

Your opinion means a lot to me regardless of what output you have or not. :)

Ah, I see. Well for me, I don't have such expectations of people to give me novel-length explanations. I just wished I had more comments in general. 😅 And wished I had a couple of sales supporting my work. Even if I make $5 off of a work, that's fine by me.

It's more of the sense that I felt undersupported (although I'm very grateful to those who did take the time to leave some sort of comment). To better explain, some folks here seem to get loads of comments on their new pieces regularly, and often my pieces go largely ignored/uncommented on. It makes me wonder what I didn't do right to catch others' ears and causes me to doubt myself.

    Happy Halloween!

Thanks mate. :) Happy Hallo...well, Happy Holidays then. 🤣 (Yeah, in "Murica", the Holidays seem to start on November 1st. And some people insist they be called "Christmas", even though there's also Kwanzaa, Rohatsu, Hanukkah, etc.)

Actually, the season is called “Hallowthanksmasevebowl” and it starts on Labor Day in the first week of September and goes through Super Bowl Sunday in February. A season of narcissism and gluttony celebrated as only a people drunk on the myth of “American Exceptionalism” can.

But back to the music… Do you have any straight dubstep tracks? I’d love to hear your interpretation of classic dubstep. My first exposure to the genre was also Skrillex and company and I’m not gonna lie, I like “brostep”. It takes me back to my head banging days. I have a couple of tracks I’ve been working on, trying to capture the subtleties of some of the older dubstep. For me, the feeling I get when listening to older dubstep tracks reminds me of old, gritty Delta or Chicago Blues.

I have a saying that I try to follow in many situations “I cannot save all the kitties.” I will buy another track at some point, I just can’t buy them all. 😉

    Keep up the GREAT work!

  • I wasn't sure what to think until all hell broke loose at 0:40. Very cool! Great energetic composition and mix. I don't do clubs anymore, but this would have gotten people out on the floor. I will listen to this in headphones when I get home.

LOL! 🤣 And I'm American and know first hand exactly what you're talking about. Oh my god. The biggest example of narcissism and gluttony is how Americans stuff themselves on Thanksgiving Day (a holiday which has its own problematic history, but that's another topic, another day), and then the following day (or even the evening before) forget what they're thankful for and stomp each other out like a herd of stampeding buffalo just for 10% off of a new phone. 🤣 Oh the irony.

But back to the music… Do you have any straight dubstep tracks? I’d love to hear your interpretation of classic dubstep.

My first attempt at classic dubstep is here.

It's more like "Minimal Classic Dubstep" and was crafted in Gadget. (This was during my "Summer of Minimalism 2021", lol.)

My first exposure to the genre was also Skrillex and company and I’m not gonna lie, I like “brostep”. It takes me back to my head banging days.

Yeah, there are a few good tracks from that era of Dubstep that still hold up to this day. I also attempted that style here...

The mixing job isn't quite what I do these days, but it still sounds decent enough. (I wish the kick were more forward in the mix, but eh. It's good.)

The other attempt at something with a dubstep break in the chorus is this one...

I have a couple of tracks I’ve been working on, trying to capture the subtleties of some of the older dubstep. For me, the feeling I get when listening to older dubstep tracks reminds me of old, gritty Delta or Chicago Blues.

Same here! Great genres of Blues for sure! ❤️

I have a saying that I try to follow in many situations “I cannot save all the kitties.” I will buy another track at some point, I just can’t buy them all. 😉

That's understandabe mate. ;) I have that upcoming single "Mysterious Girl" to be released either on "Thanksgiving Day" or earlier. Depending on when I finish the "Paul Van Dyk inspired" remix.

    Keep up the GREAT work!

Thanks mate. That means a lot. ❤️

Sounds like a good plan mate. Thank you. 🙂

It's quite catchy! I like the overall melody and track struture.
But...I don't like the mix. The highs are too loud/harsh, the mid highs (maybe 1-4k?) are quite harsh at times, and the bass is too low. Also, the vocal gets hidden at times behind the transition sounds.

I see. Do you have any tips and techniques to improve future mixes mate? :) Also, which headphones do you use? Might be time to invest in those.

    Sorry I'm not much on advice...I'm just a hobbyist/amateur.
I listened on Audio Technica ATH-M30X headphones and Presonus Eris 3.5s.
To me it just has a "honkiness" to the sound.

I see. I wonder if anyone else has experienced this with "Silver Moon". I'm always open to constructive critique and improvement.

That said, I'm honestly not hearing this "honkiness" to the sound using my Beats headphones nor M1 Pro's speakers, and I used a couple modern EDM reference tracks to mixdown, but ymmv. 🙂
