  • Nice - now can someone tell me how to actually use it because in the 5 mins I had to play with the initial beta it was not that intuitive and I kept seeing some kind of no randomisable parameters message, or something along those lines. It also wasn't clear how to save things. I see a few new betas were released overnight, maybe these things have been clarified but haven't had a chance to check. Note btw that this is standalone or iaa. It cannot be loaded as auv3 as it is an auv3 host

    Had no idea..thanks Gav

  • Definitely don't get what this does...

Was absolutely mystifying to me too lol

  • Here's a hunch:
Create random patches for the AUv3 apps on your device!

Patch Roulette lets you choose the AUv3 apps you want to use, and creates random patches for them. You can save the patches you like by swiping the patch card to the right. You can then later access all the saved patches on the "Patches" tab.

  • Also, it's free!

If there’s some secret sauce to get this to do what it says on the tin, please do share! I’ve added a range of AUV3 instruments but none of them have “randomisable parameters” so far! 🤔

Thanks for the free app though! Will be even more grateful once I can access its hidden powers.

  • All I can see is that you basically swipe left on a randomized parameter to reject, and right to accept - it’s like Tinder. But how to then get these patches to appear in the given auv3 app I am none the wiser

  • How do you decide if you like a patch? Can u demo them in the PR app? Haven’t seen how to do so

  • Seems like you pick some apps and it comes up with what app to use with what app for random signal chain ideas. Was hoping it would randomize synth patches, but still interesting, especially since it’s feee made @cem_olcay can chime in with some specific use cases.

  • Is it a joke app? I really don’t get it

  • A specific use case:
You are in a park or on a train... you look around and see all these DJs and musicians with their lame wired headphones... you reach for your watch and start creating something real special!

An idea for v2.0 that could make the app 1000% more useful:
Throw in some words and generate patch names! Whaaat?

Did you try it? Like @Gavinski said, you do the above but where are the patches? Are they saved somewhere? So far it's a mystery 🤣

If it's trying to replicate the idea of a modular patch book that tells you what to connect, that could be interesting. But since you have to select AUs, I'm not sure it makes sense.

If it randomly selected or created a signal chain and that opened in AUM, that would be cool.

Yup. But it seems more like a sub-Oblique Stategies for chain ideas for apps you may have on your device etc. I did find it fun looking at the endless presets sme of the FX apps (I have but don't use) have, but, yeah, I am still hoping Cem is going to appear and say just hit the secret Engage button and the things open in AUM (or whatever)....

  • Ah - if it is like an oblique strategies type thing, hmmm, i think that is probably of very very little interest to me. I was hoping it would actually randomise patches in apps that don’t have a randomise function. If I want to randomly randomise a parameter I would probably just choose to scroll up and down an AUM parameters list with my eyes closed, poke a random parameter and play around. I don’t get the appeal of this if it doesn’t actually randomise patches for me, but I fear now that yes, it definitely doesn’t..

  • Still not sure what this does, but I see a “ChipBud” in one of the App Store screenshots for the app.. Is that something being developed?

  • Feels like male music producers will c-r-a-s-h that Right button!
But seriously, I guess this app is more of an idea note pad to randomize parameters rather than doing it. But the idea of actually randomizing is great, it would be a way to use apps you forgot you owned.

  • I like it. For example, I want to create an overview of all my drums apps : first I select all my apps that are made to produce drums. Then I choose all the effects that can impact the drum patterns (I don't choose any delay or reverb but only the apps like ScatterBrain) then I choose all midi apps that are good to sequence drums. Let's shake it and... I have a lot of new ideas I would never thought about as it is just the mess to manage hundreds of apps. Great tool

  • I asked for a save button - that's a very obvious necessity and will be added

Was on the beta yesterday this one foxed me how to use it. Do you have to select midi au first to get sound out ? It reminded me of a card game ? I think it’s more of a reference patching app and doesn’t create sound.

Pretty sure at this point that it doesn't create sound and just gives you suggestions for patches you could make yourself 🤷‍♂️

Is it a type of PATCH The Card game?
    https://www.patchtcg.com/

Yes! It's exactly like a card a game! It creates random patch ideas for your AUv3 apps. Just pick the AUv3 apps you want to use, and it will generate patch ideas. If you want to save the patch idea, then swipe the card to the right, just like Tinder!

The app is free, and it's not the coolest part, it also has an Apple Watch app as well! So, if you're out of ideas or need an inspiration, just launch the app from your wrist and let the ideas coming

    Here's the app in action:

    I was expecting this :(

  • @cem_olcay
    Congrats on the release
    That's awesome

But being the guy "stuck in the past" I gotta ask you one thing... no chances for it being available on iOS12?

  • sounds trippy, gonna rock this afternoon. Or get weird.

Thanks! I made the app with the new SwiftUI tech, it requires min iOS 13 unfortunately. Actually it was a fun little weekend project but I wanted to release it anyway

No problemo. I really thought there was a good reason. But you can't blame a man for asking

Thanks for this anyway. Whenever I end up upgrading my device, i'll get it

    Cheers

  • I would maybe change the last part of the name to AUv3 Randomisation Suggester or something, to avoid confusion Cem!
