Wanted: AUM performance mode

I really would love to have something like a performance mode for AUM, where the general setup of all the modules are locked an where the whole setup could be seen as an overview.

In the heat of a performance I keep on moving things which shouldn’t be moved when I try to swipe through the modules….

We all (or at least mostly) want that. Send a message to the dev requesting it, though I’m sure that’s been done many times. You could in the meantime look at 4Pockets AUM Midi Mixer btw

To avoid swiping to scroll, you can set bookmarks every few channels. Tap on the channel name at the bottom, then on the bookmark icon. Now, a bookmark icon appears in the bottom right; tap it, then a selection to jump to that channel. The "house" icon at the top of the bookmark menu cycles through the bookmarks, i.e. "pages". This is quicker, and more precise, than scrolling.

  • Yes, I have asked for this mode as a feature request. I think it's on Jonatan's (long) list :)

  • Overview would be nice, a zoom in/out feature. you can get a temporary zoom out view, when you hold a channel output down and pull down as if you were going to move the channel to another spot. However that view only remains while holding the channel output, so it’s temporary.

  • Yes, AUM really could need some work in that department. I do my best to hit “safe” spots when I scroll, but it happens way too often that I inadvertedly drag a channel to a new position.
Also: Would love to have a “folder” where I could hide channels that need to be there, but don’t need to be touched at all.

Maybe a freeze in place or dim out that can be activated on channels and apps once settings and automations are fixed to prevent accidents

  • There’s also bookmarks which I use frequently in big sessions but I’d particularly like a zoom out feature.

As I mentioned earlier, you can use bookmarks in AUM to create the effect of a paged display. This eliminates the need for scrolling.

  • I midimap “show plugin” every 4-6 channels, and a double press will get you to that channel w/o bookmarks or touching the screen

Can u show a short vid or screenshot showing that working? Sounds useful but I don't fully get it

It’s just map the “show plugin”

I map this every 4 to 6 plugins. When you show the plugin, it scrolls to the channel behind. If you tap again, it closes the plugin and leave you at the channel. So tap tap quick, or script it….
It’s crude but it works….especially when trying to avoid touching screen in a live setting. It can be cleaner with it scripted and sending the note twice quicker than I can manually, I just grabbed a junk controller and pressing a button twice quickly. No need to touch the screen to pull up the bookmarks and play with those.

  • I’ve also tried a knob and sending notes, but it’s jumpy. It can be smoothed out easily

  • Saving and loading nods would be amazing.

  • it‘s a bit clunky, but you can do that by importing nodes from another project. I have a special project set up only to be slaughtered node by node

Handy tip, thanks, will check that out. Scrolling can be very annoying because sometimes after you scroll and try to bypass a node, the app doesn't get what you're trying to do, and keeps scrolling rather than bypassing.

midi Mxer is ok, but I thinkl it is still quite fiddly. Korg Nanokontrol studio hardware does a fantastic job, I use the 'select' button to scroll to the corresponding node.

I have to try to combine that with the show plug in function.

I map the rotating knob to one parameter (like cutoff) and solo and mute to their function. works great, but I'd love to have a way to do that when I am only with my iPad.

aren't there any controller apps, which could be programmed to do that in a more individual way?

It’s still frustrating when playing live if you catch the wrong app or channel , more so if you suffer from sausage finger syndrome like me and it’s all the time 🤣😂🤣 I’d just like to say as it is I love AUM, and especially this forum thanks to audiobus 🥰🥰🥰 they kept and continue to keep me sane in what seems to be an ever increasing crazy planet .Thank you one and all 🥰🥰🥰

Probably loopy pro loaded in aum could do a lot but I haven't explored it. I agree about midi mixer, for some reason I never ended up getting into it, can't even remember exactly why, but don't think I've used it once since I made my vid on it

  • Perhaps have loopy pro open in a small window with buttons to choose which AUM channels to jump to
Think I will try this set up later

  • Just tried to use loopy pro
But haven’t got it to work
Am sure some clever person here could get this working

My trick works with loopy. Just map the button twice with a fraction of a delay on the 2nd. Output to AUM, route AUM destination to Midi control

  • @AlmostAnonymous
    Out walking
    Will try this later
    Thanks

  • Instead of opening and closing the plug-in you also could simply map your midi controller to „Scroll To Channel“

This works too. Usually when I’m avoiding touching the iPad, sometimes I wanna see the plugin, thus killing 2 stones with one bird…or something like that
