Crazy

@McD This is one of my first songs in Notion. I thought you might get a kick out of it. It's Patsy Cline's 'Crazy' done as a orchestral waltz. I did this about 2 years ago. It's a bit amateurish but I think it's nice.

  • It has the style and sound of the Music Player they used to put in the center of the large park Carousels. Notion updated their sound engine and this doesn’t sound like it’s using it. They have a “free to use” model now with an option $15 IAP to turn on handwriting recognition and add a few more sounds.

  • Does this Notion file import into the new “Notion 3”… I think they jumped from 6 to 3 but unified all the platforms they support behind 3. So, a Notion 3 score runs on Windows, Mac, Android and IOS. Who else can say that?

  • This track reminds me of visiting the House On The Rock. They have many coin-operated calliopes strewn throughout the almost 3-mile long exhibit. My favourite being the Mikado.

    Pretty cool version mate.

  • Before analog (electric) there was mechanical… rotating cylinders with holes, bumps or spikes to activate musical machinery.
Replacing musicians with devices is a never ending scheme… and we benefit from the removal of gatekeepers and manipulators of artists.

  • It's cool. In the spirit of the Halloween season I really want to take this, run it through a plug-in like the recently released beta for Unfiltered Audio lo-fi af, mix it with some spooky noises, make a video with scenes from " The Shining" and "A Clockwork Orange" after passing them through DataMosh Reactive and then project the resulting video onto my house.
Guess I'm just excited to see the Vampyr premiere on Monday.
    Good stuff Paul.

I imported the MIDI into Cubasis and used iSymphonic, Korg Module, and a few other synths. I think the Notion sounds are good enough for composing purposes, but not for recording. I am still waiting for the weather to change before I jump into StaffPad. The last couple weekends were pretty nice for sitting outside. I have a few ideas but am a little nervous going outside my comfort zone. I know that once I do, everything will be fine. Like jumping into cold water. I want to try new ideas like this one, but I think this one went a bit overboard, but... what the heck.

I have always wanted to go there. I'm just south of Chicago so it's not a long drive. We have been thinking of both House On The Rock and Taliesen. I am a Frank Lloyd Wright fan so that's probably where we will go next.

I hadn't really thought about the carnival sound of this track until you mentioned it. You are absolutely correct! This would also be nice for roller skating. I was looking for something different and I think I found it. I have been listening to a local community college radio station that plays old jazz from the 30s and 40s. I might try something like that, next... or not.

Thanks for listening. Have a great week. Thanks for the 'follow'.

I would really enjoy seeing that! So many good scenes in both. I was having a hard time thinking of an appropriate title for something I'm working on. When you mentioned 'The Shining', the perfect title came to mind. I hope to have it finished by the weekend. You will recognize it immediately!

    Hi Rene,

Thank you very much for the kind words. I really don't mean to bump this post, but during the week I only get a few minutes in the morning to visit the forum. Have a happy and memorable day!
