Visualizer rendering is done on the CPU. We used to do hardware rendering, but there were so many incompatibilities and weird bugs that were cropping up that we switched to CPU-only.
Yes, it's supposed to reduce the amount of information, but you seem to have caught a bug where that button is not doing anything! Working on a fix now.
I understand. Thank you so much.
Ah! That's a bug. I thought we made a mode where the record visualizer was disabled but it doesn't seem like we have. I'm wondering if it's worth creating it or if the amount of CPU saved wouldn't be worth the effort. How is the performance/load of Needlepoint on iOS in general, relatively speaking? I know Tails is a bit heavy. Thanks!
Right we're using this kind of weird granular delay thing to do the pitch shifting, since it's real-time, so at super low values it causes this very slow transient smear that will go in and out. If you just sit and listen you can hear that happen, go back into sync, go back out, etc. At perfect 0.0 or a higher absolute value it won't act the same way, so it's just this specific use case and the algorithm we're using.
Thanks for your answer.
I’m ignorant of behaviors specific to music software, so I’m not sure about any issues related to it. If there is a sound issue or a latency issue, I’m probably incapable of recognizing it exists.
For example, I can recognize differences in sound can be determined by a simple A/B testing, but I probably cannot always tell which sound is "correct".
Therefore, your question is exactly what I would expect other beta testers to report here.
I’m very bad at taking videos and uploading them and I find it very hard. (So I think cokomairena is great.)
For developers, I think video is more useful than text for reporting performance, load and latency.
That said, it may be difficult to report the difference in the sense of use relative to other apps, without text.
-After using Tails, I felt it might be a bit heavy. But I thought it might be because my iPad is older and has less processing power.
-Needlepoint is an unusual (in a good way) music app for me, so I’m not sure what music apps I should compare it to. In this case in particular, I’m not sure what the standard is for determining whether the app is smooth or not in its behavior.
(I don't have much experience in using music apps in general, so I'll leave detailed reports to other beta testers. I’m sorry.)
New builds are up. You can now disable the visualizer properly! Back to writing store page descriptions...
I confirmed the visualizer settings fixed. Thanks.
Does the compressor do 303 vinyl sim? And if so, how close does it get?
Question to the developer of this great app! Is this click specifically provided at the starting point of the "broken" mode or is it a bug? On purpose, is it possible to add an option to the menu to disable this?
Video is marked as private! Can you change it to unlisted?
Oops)
I change
The click isn't intentional, but it's not a bug either. It's just a result of a discontinuity at the start of the Broken Mode loop. I'll talk to Josh and see if we can add some sort of windowing around the loop point. The click is more realistic with how a broken record would work
that would be amazing)
