Which mini keyboard controller for Cubasis (and Cubase)…
…are you using and or would you suggest?
I’ve got a Novation Launchkey Mini mk3 but I’m not so happy with it; too Ableton Live oriented…
Thank you,

Try a used Novation SL MKII.
They are now really cheap in the used market and I do not understand why.
The keys are great
Easy to map everything
A lot of knobs
Screen to write the name of the control, per example "Cutoff".
Theses were like 500$ new and I found one at 125$ in Canada last week.
I have the 49 version with the Fatar keybed and I like it.
USB midi
Midi in and out
Midi thru
Sustain input
Expression input
Nothing new come close to these "old" model (except the Novation MK3 version that you will pay a lot more.
Is it too big? If yes, did you try the new midi controller by Arturia?
FWIW if a controller you’re considering speaks MCU, HUI or has a “Pro Tools” mode, it should integrate with Cubasis nicely for DAW control. My Korg Nanokontrol Studio integrates beautifully in HUI mode (but is not a keyboard controller). The new Arturia Minilab 3 speaks MCU and has some custom DAW mappings as well, and it seems crazy cheap for what you get. If all you need is a 2 octave keyboard then I’d give it a look.
FWIW, this is an area where basically everything on iOS other than Cubasis falls seriously short as far as I know. MCU support in Zenbeats or AUM would be gamechangieur 😁
Thank you @Montreal_Music,
I had thought to find an mk2, actually, but I own a 61mk2 yet (that can run with no external power delivery…) and when I bought the mini mk3, that I would use for mobility, because of its size, I wrongly supposed it was the same…
25SL mk2 seems to be really great but, apart that’s too expensive for me at the moment, it’s a bit too big…
@mjm1138: I’d searched on Arturia forums, about MiniLab and MiniLab mk2 for the truth, but I’ve read various bad comments so I passed on; maybe mk3 is better, I’ll consider it in case I decided to change…
I really hope I can find a way with Novation, expecially for mobile use (see my other post here
Thank you for answering,

What are you unhappy with about the Mk3?
I have an Akai Mpk mini mk2, pretty decent for something small and portable with pads and knobs to map, built in arp, I do feel like it’s built pretty cheaply, this is my second one as a key broke on my first one after a very short fall. I also have the Korg MicroKey Air 37, no pads or knobs to map but the upside is more keys and it has Bluetooth midi which is very handy sometimes when I don’t want to don’t want to deal with a usb cable or a usb hub.
@espiegel123 sorry for my delay but I didn't post the draft... First of all, thank you for answering
I mainly like the fact that I have to use external power if I want use it with iPad, as I bought it for mobility (I'm trying to understand it in another post
I also would prefer it was more "Cubasis compatible" even if I know that I can program it trough Novation Components.
Maybe when I'll be more used to it I'll appreciate more than I did until now...
