Sidecar 1.8 update
I've pushed out an update for Sidecar -- some minor changes to the AUv3. You can now access all 16 MIDI channels using the QWERTY row, or QWERTY and a shift. I usually use channel 11 for my experimental stuff (Spinal Tap, obviously), and realized that channel 11 wasn't reachable. Doh! The shift adds 10 to the channel (so channel 11 is shift-Q... and left square bracket works too).
The number row for the AUv3 still sends PC messages, but if you hold down shift, it's a CC message. I've run into a couple of apps that only support MIDI learn with CC, so.... gotta send that instead.
The AUv3 will now display the MIDI message sent from a keystroke, so it's easier to see what's going on. The "window" has to be open for the the plug-in to capture keystrokes, but you can shrink it down to a small size, and put it in a corner out of the way.
There's some trickiness with keyboard focus. On AUM, if multiple plug-ins are trying to catch keystrokes (Animoog Z and L7 Looper do this, for example), it seems to be that the last window opened has priority. If Sidecar isn't catching keystrokes, try closing the window, and then reopening.
Anyway, that's the latest news. A few other things in the pipeline, and I think I'll have time in the Spring to get a lot of hackery done.
