Phaser Factory by Genuine Soundware

https://apps.apple.com/app/id6444244044

Description:

GSi Phaser Factory is a versatile phase shifter effect in the likes of some famous guitar pedals such as the Phase 90, the Small Stone, and stuff like that.

With Phaser Factory you can create your own phaser and even try to "clone" an existing model.

Select the number of phase shifting stages, from 1 up to 20!
Set the LFO width and offset.
Configure the feedback chain, the output mix and the summing stages.

The algorithm is simple and efficient, once you get the perfect vibe, save your presets.
And if you're a plugin developer, you can even export a C++ Class that you can use in your project to play the exact preset you've created in Phaser Factory.

Phaser Factory is not only a phaser, it's all of them.

Hmmm. I’m a phaser nut, but the phaser on their Electroorgan or whatever it’s called is the worst I’ve ever heard. Gotta wait for others on this one.

Not to mention FAC Phazer is probably the most complete, and best sounding, phaser ever.

That has to be literally the worst UI job I’ve ever seen for a music app. Looks awful. This should be completely reworked, I don’t care how good it sounds.

  • Any thoughts on how this phaser sounds?

  • Yes! I have a thought because I bought it of course! 😂

It’s pretty good actually. I lined it up against FAC/Moog/4Pockets/AudioDamage etc and it’s not that it beats them out, they all sound good in their own way, but it has a couple of different controls for you to tweak and you can get a different sound out of Phasor Factory. Well worth the sale price IMO.

  • I Just uploaded my demo for Phaser Factory, it does sound good, with plenty of control to sculpt your phasings

  • Thank you Doug. You didn't mention whether frequency of shifting could be synchronized with host BPM, so I guess this feature is not available(?).

  • This phaser has a lot of potential, but needs some repackaging and some work around the LFOs.

The musical quality of its feedback easily puts it in the top 3-4 phasers on iOS. Even higher if you're not a fan of saturation in your phasers. Yes, that includes the possibility of a #2 rank.

Unfortunately I experienced several frustrating issues with the LFOs and the stereo width setting. I'm not even going to mention the UI.

Using it on a Rhodes EP was my biggest disappointment, at least with the small stone preset. It's in stark contrast to another AUv3 with small stone emulation, so it wasn't a problem of the unprocessed sound.

But I'd like to commend the sound once again - it's one of the very best among AUv3's. Maybe that doesn't go for all of the possible configurations, but this plugin sure can deliver sounds that no popular iOS phaser can.
