Rosetta baseline in AUM: timing issues

Hello everyone,

I have a question regarding Rosetta baseline running in AUM.

In AUM I set up a patch to route midi from Rosetta Baseline to the hardware midi output of my iConnectivity Audio 4c, in order to sequence a modular synth system (just the triggers and notes, no clock). This works fine, but I notice a small delay in the timing of the midi notes, as in they are lagging behind the master clock of AUM. It's a noticeable delay.

In order to try and find out the root of the problem I proceeded to use the same sequence in Rosetta, this time as a plugin in Loopy Pro. At this point both AUM and Loopy Pro are running, and the midi notes sent from Bassline in Loopy Pro to the modular system do not have the same delay. The timing is pretty decent. This leads me to believe that the problem resides with AUM. Does anyone here have a similar experience? Or any tips on how to make this work?

Theoretically my iPad can run AUM and Loopy Pro at the same time, but it does spike my processor load to nearly 70% (as displayed in AUM). As I would like to use his setup on stage I don't feel comfortable with this. I'd like to run only AUM, that will save some much needed cycles.

Thanks in advance.

Peter.

  • Be sure you're using the same buffer size (latency) setting in both cases.

    Thanks for your reply.

Both apps are using 512. I brought it down to 265 but that really hits the processor, so it's not really an option. It's weird, even at 256 I can hear a timing difference between the Rosetta sequence coming from AUM and the one coming from Loopy Pro.
