Dreaming of California, Orchestra mockup in NS2/audiolayer
Still working on converting my custom sample libraries for NS2 and audiolayer.
I'm starting to be pretty fast at that task.
So, today I tried to do an orchestra mockup very roughly based on California Dreaming.
I had quite a lot of issues in NS2 with the articulations before I just decided to put each articulation on its own track. That makes a LOT fo tracks, but not many of them are actually playing at the same time, so the iPad doesn't have any problem playing it.
The main issue remains the reverb, those thing are really using a lot of processing power. I will have to figure out a way to fix that.

Very dynamic and impressive. I can tell a lot of work has gone into that 😉
How many parallel tracks are running in NS2? I understand there are long sections where most aren’t active but still… how many total?
The ramblings of an ideal mind. You won’t unthinking this so consider carefully before wading into my nightmare.
I renamed this Nightmare in California because my mind kept adding sinister details to the supplied image… what are those people throwing into those holes… and of course, in nightmares they have to be small human sacrifices… the essential root of most conspriracy theories: babies.
Only, the Glock player knows the melody? What happens if she’s sick?
Beautiful work as usual @jo92346.
Thanks @Leeb and @McD.
there are 20 tracks, most are the sampler in NS2, 5 are audiolayer, and there are at max 8 tracks playing at the same time. I can play more with absolutely no issue if I use the internal reverb.
I really wish it was possible to freeze tracks in NS2, because the sampler is really good in my opinion.
The nightmare really fits the mood actually.
About the melody, it isn't only the Glock player (who's name is Roberto, 250lbs and bald, BTW): the base theme melody is played by the viola section, the flute, the trumpets (which are mixed very shy because I'm not happy with my samples).
The mix really could be better.
Well done. Have you listened to @ScottVanZandt? He’s a master of this cinematic genre.
Sounds good, great reappropriation of the song. McD's nightmare description fits perfectly the mood.
Roberto is a very sensitive guy, we can clearly hear that !
Can't wait to hear the great music you will create with Staffpad. This piece which already sounds great, would definitely sound a lot more real in Staffpad with the Berlin librairies from Orchestral Tools. But since you have a clear vision, you'll have to export the audio stems from Staffpad to a DAW to mix them to your taste.
Very spacious soundscape.
This recording is vast and full.
I love it.
And the cinematic effect is truly beautiful.
Thanks for this orchestral work.

Great track… in less than 4 minutes it packs a lot in.. especially liked the pizzicato strings.
Thank @GeoTony. You must have some crazy ears. The pizz violins section is barely audible in the beginning.
