I downloaded the free PC trial of Mini V and the presets from it work perfectly in iMini. Getting them loaded into the app seems a bit of a black art though. You have to put the banks into the iMini app's Documents folder (I used iFunbox), start iMini, and then basically let it run through the start up sequence until it crashes. Then kill the app, go back into the documents folder and delete the banks you added earlier. The next time you start the app, some of the new banks be there working. I was able to get close to 900 new presets loaded up on my ipad 4 (about 11 out of the 18 banks I tried to load). On my sons ipad 3 only 4 new banks were added, so YMMV. It's worth a try.

*UPDATE - I was able to get all the rest of the banks loaded in using some detective work and iFunbox. Before you go back into the documents folder and delete the banks you added earlier (as above), navigate to iMini>Library>Application Support>Machines>MiniVController>Presets>My Presets and copy all of the sub-folders to PC. Then delete only the preset banks that iMini was able to load. Repeat the process over again until you have all of the banks transferred to your PC. Then just copy all of those folders back to the same folder you got them from, and make sure all of the source banks are deleted from the Documents folder.

There's more preset banks to download and add here: http://www.arturia.com/evolution/en/downloads/presets.html

    But. It. Sounds. Amazing.

    For. Five. Dollars.

I dunno. I'd pay $5 for a lot of stupid shit. I have, many many times. Just one of any of iMini's wonderful sounding presets will likely inspire at least a riff that will inspire a song. For five dollars. Less than a MIDI cable! What's to complain about? One riff, and then deleting the app is worth five bucks.

(Before I get any direct private messages again: I do not work for or really even care about Arturia or Retronyms)

  • Arturia is selling many of their desktop synths, including the Prophet V, at half price. I am looking forward to a Prophet V on the iPad but hope it's a solid implementation.

    iSEM: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/arturia-isem/id673921187?mt=8

    iMini: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/imini/id603340125?mt=8

I would assume links to appshopper in the first post instead of the App Store would give appshopper the commission instead of the Audiobus guys. I'm buying iSEM - that shine on you crazy diamond vid on youtube was all I needed to hear and I'm sold.

Ugh, the entire analog collection is only $200. Mini V, Modular V, CS-80V, ARP2600 V, Prophet V & Prophet VS, Jupiter 8-V, Oberheim SEM V, Wurlitzer V and Spark Vintage. I could live an awful lot of Vince Clarke dreams with that setup!

I wonder if the new app will be a prophet V, VS or both combined like the desktop app.

Sale (desktop anyway) looks like it will run through September 8th.

  • Ok fair points, i just bought it anyway. Thanks :-)

  • You'll love it. It's a great synth with a few implementation fails.

  • I got both iSEM and iMini earlier in the week, so I missed the sale. On the MIDI issues with iMIni, my workaround is just to use IAA with Cubasis. There are some effects that I can't use with it as they are Audiobus only (Filtatron and Level.24, but I use them in series with DM1 and Audiobus into Cubasis).

This gets over the fact that iMini responds to all channels as with IAA Cubasis you can set the MIDI ports to 'none' as IAA routes the MIDI data directly.

Having got it all working I can successfully integrate iMini into a multi-instrument set up with Cubasis.

So, if you use Cubasis at the heart if your set-up the current price is a steal, it sounds great and can be made to work.

Well my trials and tribulations with using 3rd party banks with iMini continues. All of my banks were working great until I tried to save a preset. Then it deleted every single 3rd party bank that I had in there. It seems the only way is to put the .minibank files in the Documents folder, but when you do that it slows the "load" button to a crawl.

I tried loading only one .minibank file at a time to the app and then saving just my favorites to my presets, but it seems something gets corrupted when I try to even do that, and then the app starts crashing every time I hit the 'load' button. From there I have to delete and reinstall the app. It's a shame cause the presets that come with Mini V are much better sounding and more diverse than the default presets for iMini which all sound kind of samey.

Ahh-turns out it's their 15th anniversary- the VSTs are all on sale for 50% off too.
Downloadable versions are $49- great deal, but not as great as $4.99!

I believe today is the last day of the sale - "Offer available until September 8th."

  • Question: Does it have Audiobus support? I only saw Tabletop. I'm a noob so I don't know much about Audiobus support in music apps. I thought everybody had it. Why wouldn't they include Audiobus Support?

  • Not sure of the "it" you're referring to, but you can check here: http://audiob.us/apps

It's the "apps" link at the top of the screen between "home" and "forum."

You will find some apps are not AB compatible - iMPC and iMaschine for example.

  • Thanks telecharge. :) The iSem supports Audiobus. It's mine!
