Digistix 2, a doubt

Hi everybody,
I’m in search for a drum machine app for my ipad 8 and, even if I’m still watching videos, reading forum posts, etc, I’m very interested in Digistix 2 but I don’t understand this: if I search for DS on Apple Store I find this:

but I also see this:

my questioons are:

1) do I need to purchase the bundle or I can simply buy DigiStix 2 AUv3 plugin?

2) what would I have more if I buy the DigiStix Upgrade Bundle?

Thank you for helping,

Art

You can just buy the DigiStix 2 AUv3 plugin. DigiStix 2 was a new and upgraded version of the first DigiStix.

    2) what would I have more if I buy the DigiStix Upgrade Bundle?

Nothing to speak of. I don't think there are any meaningful features of the first DigiStix that were left out of DigiStix 2. The new app better in every way that I know of. (Someone will correct me if I'm wrong, no doubt.)

The bundle was offered as a way to reduce the cost of upgrading for original DigiStix owners. Since the App Store doesn't allow "upgrade" pricing, often developers will offer a discounted bundle to help existing users not to have to pay full price for an upgrade. It's no help at all if you don't own at least one of the apps.

Good luck! Both are really nice drum machine apps, but DigiStix 2 more-so. B)

  • Exactly what @wim said. Wait for a sale, if you want to, and just get DS2.

  • ALSO DigiStix 1 works on the iPhone — DigiStix 2 due to expanded features (interface) does not

  • Digistix 2 works on the iPhone too.

    Thank you @wim, @Poppadocrock and @audiblevideo ,
I’m not particularly in a hurry as I’m trying to figure out what I exactly need, so I can wait for a sale (even on the Apple Store you can grab DS2 alone yet).
I’m also considering other apps, Drum Computer is one but - apart from his price - I’m afraid it’s over complicated…

I watched a @Jacob Haq [) video, some days ago, about top drum apps; have you ever experienced one among them?

    Have a nice day,

If you want a session drummer of any genre get the LumBeats apps
Sound module and design get FAC drum kit
For more “modern” and ratchety music with sound design and sequencing DrumComputer

Aside from the newly released Splat 2 Clat (the swing options are super nice), DigiStix, and Sitala / Koala (for quick samples), the 3 mention in the first paragraph are my basic machines

note: I have and use others like polyBeat and Octachron Lum FAC and DrumComputer are just my most used

My basic setup almost every jam is importing a template in AUM using DrumComputer to midi sequence DigiStix

  • Thank you @audiblevideo, very exaustive 👍🏻
I’m impressed with all these powerful apps but I mainly work on desktop, if I can, and I want to keep my life easy on ipad; Drum Computer is amazing but a bit ‘frightening’ 😳 I wish I had the time to know it deeply…

  • I suggest you to consider Patterning 2, now on sale at a very good price. Patterning is one of the best drum machines available with tons of shared kit to download (or use your own sample), multiples parameters to tweak and a special UI. The obviously downside is only and still Iaa but is very stable.

  • I guess you will end up like many of us here ... with multiple Drum apps... Playbeat 3 is one of the best..

  • If you're still looking, I'd suggest Hammerhead as well.

very interesting and particular, I only complain all these App Houses could give a sort of trial period, with reduced functions maybe, just to make an idea (like Sugar Bytes does for Drum computer)

    I guess too… 😆 I’ll have a look to Playbeat too….

I’m actually… And Hammer Head is in the list…

    Thank you all 🙏🏻

  • @RajahP one question about: in the video the app is used into Cubase, so there is a desktop version too?

  • I think I’ll wait for black friday sales, anyway…

    Yes..

I think there is a ‘Lite’ (free) version for desktop also..

    I’ll try it… Thank you! 👍🏻

  • Yea lots of good ones. It really depends on your most common use cases, if you use a host/Daw, and if want synthesized drums, sampled drums, a combo of both.

  • @Poppadocrock: my main DAWs are Cubasis, on ipad, and Cubase, on desktop computer, but I own Ableton Live too.
I started mainly as an acoustic, jazz, guitarist but now I’m very interested in electronic music, sound design, etc. so I try to figure out a way that’s good for me and I think it’s a blend of these two ’worlds’.

p.s. what do you mean with ‘combo’?
