Soundpaint Saxophone Sampled Instrument on Desktop (& Other Instruments Coming Soon)
I haven't seen a lot of discussion about Soundpaint here, but they offer finely sampled sound sets for their Soundpaint software for desktop and they just introduced Soundpaint 2, which now has the means to create very convincing legatos. See this demo.
And another consideration... their sound packs are very reasonably priced.

And here’s their new Alto Flute demo. Pretty nice.
$15 discount on your first purchase of any Soundpaint instrument here: http://soundpaint.refr.cc/nigelt
That’s a nice discount!
Unfortunately you have to spend more than $15 to use it so you won't get a 'free' $15 instrument...I'm guessing the new legato stuff will be more than that anyway...!
Considering the very low cost of their offerings, it should be easy to run up that bill a bit filling out one’s selections.
Yep - and they're bringing out new stuff all the time - a lot of their instruments are from 8Dio sample sets so there's a hell of a lot to choose from.
I’ve been very impressed with their free Piano and have been looking for an alternative to SWAM’s modeled instruments. I will definitely be getting the Soundpaint sax (with or without the discount).
So… it turns out their new Saxophone is… just $30. Amazing.

And the new Flute is $20.

And thanks to @enkaytee 's discount I just got the Sax for $15.00! Nice.
Yes thanks !!! @NeuM you pushed me in :-) . Thanks @enkaytee for the referral. Is it a one time rebate ?
Cheers !
I’m guessing your account only gets one discount.
I’m seeing an issue right now where the audio levels in the Soundpaint plugin are very quiet when used as an AU in GarageBand. I raised the issue with the company and I’ll see what ideas they have.
I don't know what is your preferred DAW, but would you mind checking to see if you're having a similar issue regarding sound levels?
Fair enough. That's a hell of a deal.
Indeed!
Sometimes in the standalone I find the audio output is low - I generally put it down to the actual sampling and / or the processing going on in a program. For instance, the instruments created specifically for Soundpaint (like the Nicolas Bras range) tend to be louder so I wonder if it's something in the 'conversion' process from the original 8dio samples?
Compared to the SWAM instruments that's a real bargain and given the flexibility of using the component parts in combination with others along with the built in effects / ARP etc it makes for an incredibly powerful tool.
Given that the base engine and a couple of really interesting instruments are totally free, this is getting to be a bit of a no-brainer for desktop musicians...👍
Yes, the free Soundpaint piano is quite nice.
Yep - this one is only a one time discount, but they do occasionally offer loyalty discounts to existing customers.
There may be a weird glitch in the process of using a $15 referral discount. It only applies to the first purchase and it seems that the free ASMR library might count as a purchase even though it's free so if you already downloaded this before trying to use the discount it won't work. The free piano apparently doesn't count as a purchase. I'm contacting Soundpaint to ask them to change this behaviour.
Incidentally, has anyone purchased the new Soundpaint "Majestic Percussion"? This collection has some impressively Hans Zimmer sounding percussion, just massive sounds.
